I pulled the tank and cleaned the filter and serviced the petcock, I also checked it for operation. all seems to be well there.

what does it feel like when a wheel bearing starts going out?
my bike feels like it is 'lugging down' when I hit the throttle, the harder I hit it the more pronounced it is.  if I accelerate smoothly up through the gears I don't even feel it.

previous maintenance includes, recently soaking carb parts in laquer thinner and reassembly (no issues for several weeks) changing oil, replacing all vacuum lines and fuel lines.

this whole thing started right after I changed the oil, probably just coincidence.

TIA

"Lugging" is bad for the motor, transmission and drive train.

I could almost guarantee your problem is fuel delivery. Reasoning is, the more throttle you give it, the worse it runs. Some jets get a crud built up that soaking will Not clear up. Also, the passages to the jets can get plugged up. You may have to have the carbs sonically cleaned in order to get them clean. Removing the jets and putting stuff through under pressure (carb cleaner in a can) might get it, but not for sure. Wheel bearings have nothing to do with "Lugging". cooldude

I think he was trying to say that the bike seems like something is binding and resisting when applying the throttle.  I think he is thinking that the wheel bearing is crunching when getting hard on the throttle.  I could be wrong.  Is this right musclehead?

I agree. There COULD be something binding and causing it to drag the bike down, but, I still would bet on fuel delivery

"checked petcock operation"

You did a vacuum test? Just check'n.

Do you have an external fuel filter?

Did you add extra length to the fuel line (or a quick disconnect) when you changed it?

Is the tank vent line not kinked, in place, with the "T", and clear of obstructions?

ok to hit the high points

it feels like 'lugging' initailly it felt like running out of petrol. (I also thought it was bad gas, not after three tanks)

no other noise from the bike except up front. vent hose is clear and untwisted.

you would be correct jimmT, it feels like it's binding up but there are no other noises.

going to go back into the carbs this weekend.

thanks all!
