OH, there's a lot of it. It may be in shop talk. Its definitely in the archives or search. Its not a hard job. The wheel and drive shaft have to come out/off, doesn't take too long.

Search is your friend, but here's the overview: 1. Buy new u-joint. 2. Remove busted u-joint. 3. Install new u-joint.

Hoser, the one post has it right....the rear wheel/drive shaft will have to come off. The link below shows how to remove the u-joint without removing the swingarm. It tells you to remove the exhaust but I've never had to. I will tell this....putting the rubber boot back on will sometimes make you forget everything you learned in church. Some owners order a new boot at the same time they order the u-joint. The rubber is more flexible, hence easier to reinstall. Good luck. http://www.rattlebars.com/mtz/ujoint.html

All the info is here, in the search function. We're all here for additional info or advice once the repair is started and if you have any questions. You'll have some, but, we don't know exactly what they will be. Everyone has different questions.

Check/clean pinion cup while you're there.

I have a joint, I know how to remove the final drive and drive shaft. My main concern was the need to remove the swing arm. Don't need to hear," Buy a u joint, remove the old one and install the new one". The info in the link is what I need. This is prime riding season around here, and I have places to go. I guess it was me who was offended. Sorry about that. Hoser

Sorry if your'e offended, I thought this was a tech conversation board. Hoser Nope, not offended. I just think your request shows you haven't done any research for yourself and expect someone else to come up with the answer without even providing a question. If the question is, "Do I need to remove the swing arm?" or, "Is there a write-up somewhere that thoroughly explains how to replace the u-joint?" then ask those questions.

HOSER .... ONCE YOU TAKE THE WHEEL/FINAL DRIVE OUT REMOVE THE BOOT, AND LOWER THE SWING ARM DOWN .... WITH THE SWINGARM DOWN, YOU CAN REMOVE THE U-JOINT WITH NOT ALOT OF TROUBLE. IT WILL BE EASIER IF YOU REMOVE, AND SET ASIDE THE REAR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. WHILE IT IS ALL APART, JUST CHECK YOUR SWINGARM BEARINGS .... BY MOVING SWINGARM SIDE TO SIDE WITH LITTLE/NO PLAY, AND MAKING SURE IT MOVES UP, AND DOWN SMOOTHLY. YOU WON'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH IT. GOOD LUCK.

Your just down the road from me, get it up on your jack and I'll come over and help you out! Oh yeah we already talked. Maybe thursday of next week would work for me. I'll need to check with momma and see if I am committed to anything for that day. It is very nice outside you need to be on the bike so I'll do my best in getting there next week. Stude31
