Didn't want to hijack Blu's thread. So, has there been any people on here that have
used either HID or the new LED with success.

Last vrcc guy that admitted using the LED i think was Scoobydoo.
Be nice to hear how that is going.

Would like to hear anyone's experience with HID, and not hurt the Tourer bucket.

I have HIDs in my Goldwing and quite pleased.  Looking forward to the Valkyrie experiences.

AC, would you say that it is as bright as a Silverstar Ultra?, or maybe the brightest
light you've had so far?

Could you give a link to the unit you bought.

The HID puts out a lot of light.  I have it on my vtx and shadow.  I got mine from chstom dynamics.  Been going strong for over two years.

Glad you asked.  I was running Silverstar Ultras and was happy with the light output.  I was NOT happy with life; a year or maybe a bit longer and one filament done.

Got the HID kit from goldwinghids.com during their Christmas sale.  Cyclemax sells this brand as well.  These are full plug and play, use a servo motor to adjust hi to low beam and are 6000k.  They are every bit as bright but the whiter light really pops reflective surfaces like signs, road lines, critter eyes!  They also seem to be quickly spotted by cage operators.  The two small wedge bulbs beside the headlights I changed to bright white LEDs.  I also changed the H3 bulbs in the lower cowl driving lights to bright white LEDs.  If the HIDs last thru the warranty (three years), I'll be satisfied.

I powered directly from the EC power panel.  I have a manual switch to the relay hot lead for this panel so I leave it off until the bike is running.

It was a little work but I used a generic auto replacement set of HID with standard size ballasts on my I/S loved them then one bulb stopped putting out,,,,, light that is.

I found that it was just a ballast that went bad and found the MINI ballasts to replace the set in the fairing and I liked them so much I installed the mini ballasts in my pods that I also had standard ballasts HID lights for fog light replacement.... The original ballast went bad in less than 2 years, the mini ballasts have been in for about a year but I haven't riding much this past year.

The color temp I picked looks like a very baby bluish almost green, but the visible light the rider see is very bright and almost white....

And I never miss an opportunity to share my old Multipoint Upgrade thread,,,, so here ya go.

about a 3rd of the page down you will see some info on the lighting I installed. Maybe it will be helpful?

After all this time I just realized I spelled Multipoint incorrectly in my thread title... DAMN! FIXED.
