Ok received the "new" rear end today.

Along with the three o-rings (ordered from Carolina Bike & Trike), what other items should I go ahead and replace while I'm in there?

I've read about the "thrust washer" and the "oil seal".  Can someone shed some light on exactly which parts these are?  And where to get them?

One final question, do I need PASTE or GREASE?  Or BOTH?  And what kind?  And where do I get it?  crazy2

Thrust washer is a teflon washer that goes in between the wheel and the star...on that bearing surface. It keeps the star (as it flexes in the dampeners) from eating the wheel. Very important. Lots of folks lose them. Get it at honda.

Paste on the splines if you've got it...if you don't, the reality is any good quality waterproof grease will do. Assembly order is what is important (torque the axle before you tighten the 4 nuts that hold the pumpkin on. They are last.). Grease only in the pinion cup (not paste). It is lubed by the rear end oil and paste will clog it up. Make sure all the gunk is cleaned out of it before assembly.

What Daniel said... The manual says moly-grease ...  I see now, that's way
different from moly-paste...   uglystupid2

These folks are good to deal with and they've been friends to the VRCC.  http://guarddogmolylubricants.com/

Ok, good info.  What about the oil seal?  Or dust seal?  Are they the same thing?
