I am amazed that I was able to order and get a new Interstate tank
for my bike within 4 days.
My old tank seems to have some rust forming along the front edge.
They must have just painted it, because you can still smell the paint.
I have a new fuel valve and filter so I guess all I need to do is swap
the fuel sender over to the new one.
I will have to look at the rust forming on the old one to see if it,s
from water under the paint , or from the inside.
If it is just surface rust when I change tanks I will sell the old tank.

If it is just surface rust, you might want to remove it with Evaporust before selling it.

Be careful taking that sending unit out. It is like a puzzle getting it back in also. Turn it, twist it, and make sure your holding your tounge right. I would also recommend a new O-ring for the sending unit when installing it on your new tank.

They do come painted.  That is why there are different types.  They come with the decals on for the two color tanks and the NH1 is the all black tank.
But it on one of the HDL sales and sell your old tank.  Ends up to be about the same price as buying a used tank that is probably scratched.

Turns out it is just surface rust from the paint cracking
along the weld in the front.
Funny thing is the new tank came with a blocking plate on the bottom.
I guess I will just sell the old tank to someone that needs one.
Guess 600.00 sounds like a good price plus shipping.

Wow, they have gone up in price!  I bought mine from HDL about 3 years ago (??).  Around $1000, but the had a 20% off sale then, so around $800.  And to think I was pissed because a few years earlier I thought of buying one from them at $680, but procrastinated.

I'm enjoying the Standard with the I/S tank!

I went with the R&M Works Belly Tank.  Larger capacity, lower cost, and gets rid of the potential for hydrolock.  Wink
