I've been fooling around with replacements for my Baker Air Wings. I"ve been annoyed because when you tighten them enough so they stay in place at speed, they become hard to move and crack when you try and move them. I think I've replaced two sets and was going on my third. Baker offers a polycarbonate material which is tougher and more flexible than the standard acrylic, but only in smoke and I like clear. So I made a Ffew sets of polycarb clear wings and have been testing them. They work well and are flexible so they bend instead of crack when you try and move them. Then I got to thinking (which can be dangerous) and said why not do something visually more exciting? What about flames? Everybody likes flames. This is how they turned out. What do you think? another look made of extra thick plexiglass

what happens when you kick them getting off of a gold wing that you've borrowed from your Dad for the evening...will they still bend or do they crack?
That's what happened to Dads. I kicked a hole clear through it.
As he was measuring the other one to replace it he snapped it trying to adjust it.
If that holds up better then I'll have to let him know that he needs a set before I borrow it again!
Cool looking flame job

Reply To Big IV: Because of the intricate pattern these could not be made of polycarbonate. The flames take a laser to cut them and the laser melts and discolors polycarb. So we made these out of 3/16" acrylic (as opposed to 1/8" stock material). They are very sturdy and should hold up quite nicely. Not knowing how hard you kick, it's difficult to predict, but certainly much better than stock. To QUOTFU: We are just getting started with these but if there is a demand we can always make more. We are planning to have a few sets on BigBF's table at InZane. Otherwise, send me an email @ rikb@image4u.com and I'll get you the particulars. Thanks for your interest!

Reply to Misunderstood: The trailing edge is about 6" away from the riders legs when using stock pegs, and we will soften the points abit. Should be adequate clearance.
Oyeaa:
We are starting production now. I don't think we can do 50 pieces this month, but we could do 20 if the orders are there.

Reply to Keyboarder: I'm not quite certain if this will get me in trouble with admin or not,(hope not!) but the flaming wings for a Std or Tourer are $75.00 plus $9.50 shipping. As a comparison, Baker sells a set of replacement wings (1/8" acrylic) for $53.80 standard rectangular shape. Reply to Blackduck: The polycarbonate wings are the same shape as stock and are $49.00 plus $9.50 shipping, see photo below. Because of the short notice, we cannot bring a lot of stock to InZane, but if we run out you can take a look at them there and place an order for a set. Just got word we have been approved for a Baker dealership so we can sell the complete system to those that don't have them already! Please direct any specific questions to my email at rikb@image4u.com and I'll be happy to answer you directly.

My apologies. I'll be on premise at inzane Saturday. Mostly at BF table. Can we meet there? It's the next step. P.S. You certainly are an alert and able admin!
