My Obsession

Coolidge, Arizona

« on: July 14, 2009, 07:23:56 PM »

Just off I-80 in southern Iowa on Highway 25 -- is FREEDOM ROCK -- amazing site!  It was very touching and impressive.  If you get a chance and are in the area --- stop by!  Thanks RJ for suggesting this visit.

If someone asks me who is my HERO --- my standard answer is JOHN WAYNE.  I was lucky enough to stumble across his birthplace -- Winterset, Iowa!

The Freedom Rock embodies everything that I remember of this great state, the people of Iowa have high morals, a very strong work ethic and are very patriotic (however I'm still trying to figure out what they were thinking last November at the polls)!

In the movie "Field of Dreams" when Ray Cansella's father asked "is this heaven?"...he probably should have responded..."well as a matter of fact it is"!  By the way if you want to know if someone is a native, just ask them to pronouce "Wapsipinicon"!  It took my ex-wife about 15 minutes to finally get this old Tennessee boy to pronounce it correctly!

That's right.  The Wapsi river.  But I do know how to pronounce Wapsipinicon.
