Well, I'm getting ready for Inzane and am putting on new rubber. The front wheel/tire when fine. The rear is something else!

I've dropped the mufflers and removed all bolts, pulled the axle and put the caliper out of the way. When I slide the tire to the left the drive flange stays put in the pumpkin. I've tried to persuade the flange with jiggling and a little prying with a screw driver to move with the tire but no luck. Of course, I cant remove the wheel/tire like this so I'm very open to suggestions! Help!

There is a slot on the bottom of the final drive that you can put a screw driver in and pry the drive flange toward the wheel. Do this at the same time your trying to remove the wheel off the final drive.

Thanks! I saw the slot but didn't know what it was for. Worked great! You'd think that between the Honda owners manual and Clymer's that something  would be said as clearly and you did. Thanks again.

Supporting the wheel a bit can ease the removal.

BonS,

I had a similar problem with my Valk after a dealership in Grand Junction, CO changed out my rear tire while I was on a trip.  Bottom line was (and they didn't catch it) was my wheel dampers were worn out and were no longer holding the flange to the wheel.  I replaced my dampers and all was fine again.  I am not saying it needs to be done before InZane but you may want to go ahead and order the replacement parts and be ready when you get back from InZane.

Glad to be of some help. I have removed many rear wheels and believe me it gets easier each time.
