I live in the State of Jefferson (CA/OR border) and will need a front tire in a 2k miles or so.  I currently have Dunlap Es on my 2003 Standard and they seem very noisy.  Any issues with mixing brands?  What is a quite front tire brand?  Any State of Jefferson Valk owners have recommendations for both tires, dealers and installers?

Remove the wheel yourself and take the wheel and tire to a regular automobile tire shop.
My local tire shop is cheaper, quicker, and does better work than my local bike shop.
I would never let a stealer touch my ride.

Before running the darkside,I always kept my tires matched.
Nothing but metzeler or Avon for me.
NO DUNFLOPS!

None at all.  I've run E3 rear and Avon front on two different Valks very satisfactorily.

Love Avons on the front but got a deal on the Metezlers. Hope to return to Avons next time around. No problem mixing brands, some are just better than others.

I ran a radial Avon up front and the 200 bias ply Avon on the rear with no problems.

Don't have any experience but, I have heard several times it is okay to run radial on back bias up front.  Not okay to run the other way.  I have no explanation just what I read.  Is there a good reason to run radials as opposed to bias?

I have run Avon Venom front, Dunlop E3 rear.  Currently running the 200/60-16 Battlax rear, E3 front.  Best combo so far.  No problems with either set up.
