Has anyone installed the Shiny Desmog kit with the Kury plug valances?
If so, any issues?  Mark and I just received our shiny demogs and will be installing in a few weeks.
Just wondering if there any pitfalls to watch for?  I am impressed by the quality and completeness of Redeye's shiny desmog kit!  Very nice kit!

I have done 3 now and no real issues. Works well but it does take a few extra minutes and a moment of scratching your head to figure out how to get your fingers under the covers to hold 2 of the plug hold down thingy's.

It gets even tougher when your installing on an I/S and have the covers for a Standard/Tourer, a dremel is your friend when installing like I did.

I just use a small piece of clear scotch tape to hold the plug thing in place under the runner start all the other screws a few turns then push the screw and puncture the tape and turn the screw with a t handle allen head tool all in 1 motion  it dosent give it a chance to pop out of place the tape drys up and flakes off in time or use  needle nose to pick it out

Sorry for the scratching of the head (my own). What is the purpose of doing a desmog. Been following this for awhile but still don't know why this is done. VERY curious!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks much for the info!  Glad the two things are compatible.

Taking off the smog stuff cleans up the look of the engine.  It also eliminates several potential vacuum leaks.  From what I have been told, it does not alter the running a bit.  Some have said it will eliminate decel popping in some cases.  That's the main reason I am doing it, my bike sounds like a machine gun when slowing down.

I did the Redeye shiney and it pretty much eliminated all de-cel pop. Kinda miss it though..used to love to drive thu the "hood" here in Logan-tucky and let her do a heavy de-cel pop and watch all the homeboys hit the pavement , thinking it's a "drive-by" .Hahahaha...

I just did a de-smog useing that kit on my 99 tourer. Every thing works well. I have a california model, so there is more to cap off than the non- california ones. On the california model you also can cap off the vent lines on the top of all six carbs. and get rid of a bunch of hoses. Also there are two 3/8 vent lines coming from runners between 3-5 and 4-6 carbs. Remove those lines and all the air valves that go with them. BUT DO NOT cap off those 3/8 nipples, just leave them open to the air or it could cause hydro-lock. Also you might as well install new O rings on your six intakes, that way you will cover all your possible vacuum leaks. Good Luck !!!
