When I lost mine years ago, I ordered a new one from the dealership. (and spent way too much.) It looks like HDL sells them for $10.39/ea. But if I remember right, they add something like an $8.00 charge for orders under $100....

Bike Bandit has them.  I got one there from them not too long ago.  Direct line parts has 'em too.

hey, thanks. Yesterday searched the HDL store and other sites and couldn't find a thing.  Today went to HDL "parts" and found it right away.

I lost...like...8 of these things...always on long trips...I think one of my "shifts" to a different position for distance riding must position my boot heel or such to pop 'em out.

Anyway...the blindingly obvious solution...yeah, you know...the one I should have figured out after 1...or 2...or 5 or 6 at least (sheesh!):

Dab a couple dabs of adhesive silicone on the tangs before you install the new one. Don't "seal" it all the way around...just a dab or two.

Haven't lost one since!

Just changed an over due air filter. I'm going back to the garage to silicone my chrome plugs Smiley
I like that idea Daniel.

I put a wrap or two of black electrical tape on mine for a snug fit.

I used cloth tape on mine when I noticed they were loose after a winter ride.  Fits good and snug, but I like Daniel's solution better! cooldude  The adhesive on the cloth tape will eventually dry out. Sad
