Coming down on 14, there's an interesting road that turns off to the south, CR27, runs down to 34. Haven't been on that one for awhile.

I'm thinking you are talking about the one that goes over to Masonville (good leather store there), then you can go straight and go over Horsetooth Reservoir or turn right and go to HWY 34 and or over Carter Lake?

Yep. We could swing by either lake if we're not in a hurry. Or even detour over to Bruce's at Severence for an oyster snack. Straight East from Horsetooth 16 miles is Bruce's. we could also head down 85 from there and hit the ice cream store. I'm pretty sure somewhere around Fort Collins ice cream is gonna be mandatory. There's Walrus homemade premium ice cream in Ft Collins. http://www.walrusicecream.com/index2.html

BTW - Jade is finally being delivered in the morning. I've been hustling to get my pipe orders out so i can start the mods on it ASAP. Probably will be riding it this weekend. Will have the new Cyclops H4 3800 lumen LED headlight and both spots with the same. Your stock H4 headlight puts out about 1100 lumens at 60 watts. These 3 Cyclops are rated at 11400 lumens at a cost of 120 watts. I'm expecting it to make even Deerslayer's 130/90 headlight with aircraft landing lights, look like a candle. Doing some other interesting new mods too if'n you wanna see...
Haven't decided on a horn yet. No room for the air tank with the belly tank under there. There is room between the carbs for some long thin tanks - like a couple propane bottles. Hmm. Might be a winter project, that one will take more time to install.

I am thinking I have out grown my old nickname "Joshcornkid", and wanting to change my handle here on the VRCC. I like "DarkSider", already having a custom plate and actively on my 3rd D/S tire. But someone on the board said a handle is best given to you. I don't have any regular riding buddies here in Pueblo, so I am turning to you fellow Colorado Riders. I'm almost afraid to ask, so.. What do you all calling me behind my back ? Any suggestions? Remember I shaved the beard off so no ISIS references.

550 from Ouray to Silverton is just magnificent now. I suggest that any rider heading north out of Durango this weekend make the effort to get that far up the road. The old mining district of Ironton (about 7 miles out of Ouray) can be looked at as a palette of color from the greens through the yellows through the orange/red/rust of the quakey groves and gambrel oaks. Not much time left up above 8,000 feet. Still warm days for the trip.

Going up to Lake City and Slumgullion Pass tomorrow, should be jaw dropping spectacular up there as well. I'm sure the Cottonwood Pass crew will behold some great scenery too. Had to abruptly slow down to a near crawl today for both a bighorn sheep in the road and a roadside deer. Former must have been deaf, even a point blank mighty blast from BigBF's quad horns didn't make it flinch! Everyone have fun out there and as O2S always says, RIDE SAFE!

Great day! A little more than we expected (thanks to Ron ) Looking forward to next weekend. Me too - but. The forecast is for snow in the high country both days and 60's down here. Might have to have an alternate plan - snow high means Trail Ridge bad for bikes for sure. Shoot. Haven't gone over it yet this season.

May have to head south this weekend. How about Taos NM? Kinda sucks getting there and back but while there the enchanted circle is great. Supposed to be in the 70's down there. Any ideas?

Hey Guys, what are the current plans for a weekend ride? Is the Johnson's Corner thing still on? Anything going on the weekend of the 10th, besides 1st. regular rifle Elk season? I would imagine the Toy Run in Cheyenne should be getting pretty close. Mark, are you doing the Brisket Run again?

The 38th. Annual Toy Run is Saturday, Oct. 10th at 11:00 am. There's usually a band after the ride in front of the Cheyenne Depot. Good food up there at the Cheyenne Steak and Chop House....

It looks like we will be heading south this weekend. 71 is forecasted for both Saturday and Sunday in Taos. Phil says that leaving my house at 9 am on Saturday would work the best for our far northern riders. If you plan on making this trip meet at my house before 9 and if you would post here saying that you're in so we don't leave out without you. Thanks.

Taos and back was HUGELY enjoyable. The weather was challenging, the roads were accommodating, the camaraderie was beyond expectation. Thank you misfit for showing me I need to brush up on my skilled riding. Great to meet the northern friends. Hope I didn't stress Tom out too much. Great riding with all. Wish I could have made that one. We went up Hwy. 92, getting a tad nippy up here. I swapped out mesh for leather and a fleece liner, plugging in a heated liner is right around the corner. On the return trip (just around that corner in the picture) I was surprised to see a large dog in the road looking at us. Wait, that's not a dog. It's a black bear! I slowed to a near stop and the bear ran off the road and halfway up a steep hill. When we got around the corner to this stop it had come back down to the roadside again, and one car that stopped on the road to gawk or take a picture was almost rear ended by another car. I've seen lots of wildlife around here over the years, but not many bear. It was a real treat! Life in the Rockies!

Had a great time this past weekend. Weather was ok for this time of year. Rode through one small shower coming into Taos, other than that and the fog over Raton Pass it was great. Good friends, good roads, and good motorcycles does it get any better?
