Two medical students were walking along the street when they spied an old man walking rather stiff-legged with his feet wide apart. He was walking quite slowly, and one of the students said to his friend, "I'm sure the poor old man has Petry Syndrome. Those people walk just like that." The other student said, "No, I don't think that's right. I believe he has Zovitzki Syndrome. He walks so slowly and with his legs wide apart, just like we learned in class."
Since they couldn't agree they decided to ask the old man himself. They approached him and the first student said to him, "We're Med. Students and we couldn't help but notice the way you've been walking. We can't agree on the nature of your illness. Would you mind telling us what it is?"
The old man paused, stroked his chin, and replied, "OK, I'll tell you, but only after you two bright young Medical Students tell me YOUR diagnosis."
The first student said, "I think it's Petry Syndrome."
The old man looked thoughtful and said, "So you thought, but you were wrong." The second student smiled and said, "I concluded you have Zovitzki Syndrome."
The old man glanced at him and said, "Ah, so you thought, but you too are wrong." So they asked him, "Well, Old Timer, what DO you have?" The Old Man said ruefully, "I thought it was gas...but I was wrong too."
