545 vs 300,000,000 EVERY CITIZEN NEEDS TO READ THIS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT THIS JOURNALIST HAS SCRIPTED IN THIS MESSAGE. READ IT AND THEN REALLY THINK ABOUT OUR CURRENT POLITICAL DEBACLE.
Charley Reese has been a journalist for 49 years.
545 PEOPLE By Charlie Reese
Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don't propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason.. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits.. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi. She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million can not replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red ..
If the Army &Marines are in IRAQ , it's because they want them in IRAQ
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses.
Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees.
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!
Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper.
What you do with this article now that you have read it.......... Is up to you.

Nope dont think this is going to be flamed, cause it is true. But the one fact not stated is how many of the 300mil voted, they are part of this too. So it isnt 300mil,its just the few that voted. Got to get US the people to vote a few,ie 545 good people into the Gov and then they can fix,if it can be now, the problems.

It is true. That's why we voted them out in 2006 and last November. Just gonna take a while to clean up the mess.

Clean it up? This new congress and president are digging a hole so deep in debt that our grandkids will not be able to dig themselves out. Already adding almost 2 TRILLION in debt this year, and want to add over 1 TRILLION more with health care. One year of this is more than Bush added for 8 years. All Congress, of any side, can seem to do is spend, spend, SPEND! Until we get people in there that STOP SPENDING, we are going to go in the toilet. MP

So, the news was wrong? No debt? The deficit this year did not cross over 1 Trillion, and is projected to be near 2 Trillion by the end of the year? No increased spending? No OMB report that the health care plan will cost over 1 Trillion?
These were all reported on in the news just this week. So, there are THE FACTS you wanted.

Notice how Scanner always tells everyone else to get the facts right but he never quotes any himself. So Scanner, what are the facts if MP is making them up or are you just blowing hot air again?

Stormtrooper, give it up (again).
MP, how is Obama responsible for the 750 billion bank bailout or the car company bailout? Here's a clue, those took place before the election.
There is so much misinformation out on the fringe that it takes a little (very little) investigation to get at the truth.
Also, the 2009 budget was a spending request by Bush, not Obama.
Get your info on and it might give you a more accurate perspective.

His "FACTS" are tainted with KOOL AID Juice and Rose Colored Glasses (when it comes to Democrats), his version of the "Truth" is whatever the liberal media tells him it is. The Sad Truth is that we have been sold down the river by both major parties. Our Politicians have been busy serving their own self interests without any thought as to how their constituents will be afffected. And as long as voters "Blindly" vote for whoever tells them what they "want" to hear, NOTHING is going to change.

lol...just turn off your Rush and Hannity, Faux Noise and such, and TAKE THE TIME TO LOOK IT UP. Because you heard it on the wingnut radio talk show or other propaganda outlet doesn't make it true. They have to come up with that crap to make you continue to listen. Very sad.
Some are living proof the misinformed are more of a threat to democracy than the uninformed.

Some are living proof the misinformed are more of a threat to democracy than the uninformed. If You HAD a Brain You'd be DANGEROUS!!!!! I give you a common sense reply that acknowledges the FAILURE of both major parties to do the RIGHT thing and all you can do is rant about the Far Right. I don't watch/listen to RUSH or Hannity as you suggest. And I seldom watch FOX News and yes while Fox tends to "slant" their coverage to the "right" for every story that FOX NEWS may "slant" in their light, CNN slants two. And if all of your information comes from CNN or any "liberal" media then you are MISINFORMED. TRUST me on this one, the liberal media is even more guilty of making up facts than FOX news is. If you want the truth you have to sort through what both sides of the argument are saying and sort out for yourself the difference between FACT and Fiction. I do that, Do You? Judging from the "one sidedness" of your posts, I'd say the answer is NO. As a matter of fact yoo aren't interested in the Truth at all, You are only interested in your oppinion. Just another "liberal" that thinks only you are right and that anyone who dares to disagree with your point of view is wrong. That makes you EXACTLY like the FAR right wingers that you obviusly despise so much. BIRDS OF A FEATHER one might say. Allow me to let you in on a FACT: ULTRA COSERVATIVES ARE WRONG and ULTRA LIBERALS ARE WRONG. No one can lean all the way to the left or right and still have a proper perspective on any situation. So, people like you who think that ONLY they are right and DENOUNCE all who don't agree with you as MISINFORMED IDIOTS are............. THE PROBLEM.

I hesitate to enter this "debate" because I am a firm believer that people will choose believe whatever they choose to believe and rarely will they let empirical evidence stand in their way. Granted, there is plenty of "empirical" evidence out there to support whatever position you want to believe (whether it comes from Foxnews or MSNBC). I do take exception to the notion that the car company bailout took place before the election. To my knowledge the first bailout occurred on 12/19/2008 after the election and amounted to 13.4B being (loaned/given) to GM. To be candid, this 13.4B was given by Bush at the behest of Obama (even the New York Times admits this). http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/11/world/americas/11iht-11auto.17704414.htmlThe remainder of the funds give to GM is as follows and came after Obama took office: 04/24/2009 2B 05/22/2009 4B 06/01/2009 30B [For restructuring after bankruptcy] 07/06/2009 19B [Committed for remainder of 2009] If these number are correct it would be impossible to extrapolate from them that the bailout occurred before the election or during the Bush presidency. I am a reasonable man and gladly admit where I am wrong, if these numbers are wrong I sincerely would like to know. Jim

Mr. JimL, you are correct - the auto bailout was initiated after the election but before Obama took office. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/20/business/20auto.htmlThanks for the correction!

Does that crap make you feel better about yourself? Trust me, it shouldn't. I guess we all know where you're coming from ...take it to someplace more appropriate, where you and yours can all feel special together.

And I don't suppose he promised $68 billion to Africans to help with their health care issues. But who's keeping count. Our politicians have been pretty liberal with how they spend your hard earned money. And like I always say, don't matter what party, the article originally posted stands very true.

lmao...3fan....don't go having a hissy fit. The only one having a "hissy" fit is you. My answers have been lucid and thoughtful. Yours............ Well let's just say that they weren't. You guys go raving about Obamas spending and when it's pointed out that it is actually Bushes spending you go spinning off the table. Exactly where did I or the original post rant or rave about Obama's spending? The subject of the original post and my replies have been the failure of both major parties to do the right thing. It's pretty funny to watch but doesn't really add to the discussion. Pot calling the kettle black here. You can't even stay on topic for two posts in a row. The basis of your entire argumant is flawed. You mistakenly assume that I am defending Bush and attacking Obama. I did neither. As a matter of fact I'll bet that my disdain for GW Bush is even greater than yours. I've always felt that the man is an idiot. Don't think that I am feeling any love for Obama either, because I am not. I just cannot condone how far to the left that the democratic party is leaning. Until this year I thought that I was a Democrat, but when being a Democrat became synonymous with being a Socialist it was time for me to jump ship. November 2008 was the first time ever that I have voted for a Republican for President. Which means I voted for Bill Clinton (twice), Al Gore and John Kerry. "Obama's spent 2 trillion this year"...Now that's just hysterical dumb stuff. If you believe that, please tell me what he spent it on? ...... Again neither I nor the original post made mention of Obama's spending. But, since you felt the need to mention it (twice) you must be worried about it. So, I'll say this: I don't know if he'll spend $2,000,000,000,000.00 (dang that's alot of zeros) or not. But, he is over half way there and the year is far from over.
