Something new has been added to my problem.  I just rec'd word from Honda that the transmission cover I need will not be available until SEPT 1st.!!! Honda is out of stock.  I checked with Williescycle.com at the suggestion of the Honda service manager, but Willie has no donor engine available at this time (Willie's said that any 1500cc from '97-up, Wing or Valk is interchangable).

Does anyone have or know of a doner engine that I might be able to get the tranny cover from??

I also tried "Steve's Salvage" in Ala. (I think was the name) at 1-800-622-9253, in Ala., but so far, no answer to phone calls.

Any suggestions for other possible sources, new or used??

I don't know if this has been suggested yet, but you could try Pinwall cycle parts.  They have an ebay store and currently have Valk transmissions listed. Might be willing to let go of a cover.  Good luck!

I've not heard of that part, by it's self, being removed/replaced, so I can't advise...perhaps someone else can. If you can get it off and delivered to a decent machine shop, I would think they could have the bad stuff out and a Helicoil installed or drilled/tapped out a size over.

Good luck!

They have a lot of stuff at pinwall that might be helpful to you, for example, this is
$99.00...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-Valkyrie-GL1500-1500-ENGINE-BLOCK-TRANSMISSION_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZQ7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a30QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em14Q2el1262QQhashZitem5184c7ace9QQitemZ350120029417QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

The busted part appears to not be the transmission cover, which, if you could get it new, would
be $187 at HDL...

Yeah, and only 287 bucks to ship it!   Fixing the part as has been previously mentioned is your best alternative.
