Manual Pingle and a Dan Marc switch.

Running it now for about 4 years.

ENDO of all my other problems.

Oh, have a safty switch that needs to be flipped before ya get a 1/2 mile down the road or he will start to die out from lack of gas.

Go with the pingle and never worry again. Just go old school, key on, fuel valve on, key off, fuel valve off. good luck!

What's a "Pingle" and a "Dan Marc" switch?

The Pingle is an aftermarket manually operated petcock. The Dan Mark switch is an electric shut off valve.

If you have a pingle and turn the gas off each time you get off, is it necessary to have a dan marc?

No. I guess the fellas add the electric switch so they don't have to shut off the Pingle.
When I reach for the key, I also reach for the Pingle.

Do a search on the net for this model no.  Reserve is about 1/2 gal. instead of 1 gal.  This is the manual version.  Around $100 if I remember correctly.

My switch is twofold.

One to shut off the gas in case I forget to.

Second in case the bike is stolen, it will only run till it is aboit a block and a half from my house, or whereever it is parked.   I turn it off whenever I park it.

Just a safety feature.

Be careful not to spread misinformation.

It's a good idea and deterrent against theft, but unless one empties the carbs on parking there should be enough fuel in the carb bowls to travel between 1.5 and 2 miles.

I just got off my bike and I turned the OEM petcock off while on the highway and the bike never shut down.  That sounds to me like the petcock is not working.  I am ordering a pingle today.  I don't remember the reference number but it is on this website, I think. Seems like Amazon has them.

How long didja let it run......mine takes at least 5 minutes to run out and shut down.

Is 6211CH the right valve for my "99 I/S?  I went to Amazon and it said it was incorrect. Undecided

Earlier today  I purchased a Pingle petcock    # 1311 - CH     from Amazon.  The Amazon website said it was right and a previous post by Thrud said he had bought the above part number.  Thrud recommended also buying an in-line fuel filter ..Pingle SS5P.  I didn't buy that but may reconsider. Hope this information helps but you need to ask someone that has had more experience than I. Good luck

I was working from memory on the part # it is in fact 1311CH.  My apologies if I misdirected anyone.  It has been working fine since installation.

Hey fellow Jarhead.

I dug the Valk Trike out today and took it for a spin, about 20 miles.

Came home, pulled up to the garage and shut it off.

Turned off my hidden switch, turned on the key, and hit the bump stick.

Fired it up, backed it around so I could get out the drive way, took less than a minute to do.

Pulled up the driveway, turned right onto the street and stabbed him in the butt.

Stopped for the stop sign, let 2 cars go by and stabbed him again in the butt.   Went to 2nd, and as I shifted to 3rd, he stumbled and died.    Crawled off the Trike and opened a carb bowl, a few drops came out, opened another one and a few drops came out.    Turned my safety switch on and hit the bump stick again, had to do 3 tries before he fired off.    Turned around at the corner and took it back home.   Flipped the safety switch off and parked in the garage.   It ran for about 2 minutes and died.       I tried 5 times to get it to restart.  When there was no fire period, I figured the bowls were empty and he is now sleeping with the Chevy.

Peace Bro......     Happy Birthday yesterday.      Did ya get a free dinner today?   I got a free Breakfast, eggs, tatters, Toast & milk.    Very good meal.   The Hy-Vee grocery store put it on.    PS:   I thought it was to be 2 eggs, but it sure looked like 4 scrambled to me.    It was good.

Had my Valk since 2003 and only shut the valve off for the winter with no problems. I think in light of the hydro lock potential its time for a rebuild or a pingle

Question: When you install a Pingle petcock #1131-CH, does the origional chrome switch screw into that? Or, is the Pingle the only free standing fuel contol component then?

Cappy part # is 1311CH and the OEM chrome switch is of no use after installing the Pingle.  I took mine off the bike as you will need to reach in and under the tank to turn the Pingle on/off/res.

From people I've talked to in the racing field, they don't cotton to the Golan.
In their eyes it is about 3rd in the list of petcocks.

I've had a pingle for awhile with a secret turnon switch so at least if someone tries to steal it, they won't get too far from my house unless they load it in a pickie up or on a trailer.    It has been flawless for a little over 2 years now.

In the picture of the petcock parts, what does the back side of that diaphram look like?  I took apart the petcock again to look it over. I found the diaphram did seat correctly and today it showed no sign of rolling up. Maybe, because I shot some WD 40 into the petcock after I reasembled it last time. The diaphram separated from the other side this time with a gentle tug. I could then see the metal ball inside the housing, and saw it move when I turned the valve switch. The diaphram seems to have 2 parts: 1. the large nearly flat side the spring disc touches 2. a smaller round rubber part firmly connected to the larger diaphram backside. This seems to be permanently attached. It's purpose seems to be to seal the hole to the ball part. I think this was gummed up and stuck on my petcock.
Hopefully, I didn't damage the #2 attachment to the diaphram. It seemed pretty tough. When I reasembled the petcock, with a small straw I was able to get a vacuum on the small tube, and see the diaphram move in & out. Maybe, it is working, but I will order a new cover set.

Cappy the large diaphram back looks like the front side. The only difference is the outer circumference is rounded like an O-ring to fit in the groove. Tried taking a picture through the plastic bag to much light reflection.
