As some of you know, I am also active in Antique Outboards.
There will be a pretty big event tomorrow through mid-afternoon at the park on the South side of Lake Shipp, in Winter Haven.
So, if you are looking for a place to ride to and would like to see some pretty good examples of how our Dads got around on the water back then....come on down!
We have had close to 400 outboards there some years. It is an excellent place to exhibit and run engines.
Not bringing a boat tomorrow but I will be there probably turning wrenches if needed.
Theme will be Classic engines....from the 50's.

My dad used to repair Flambeaus.  He did other out boards too but my favorites were the Flambeau.
He used a garbage can and a some bracket to test them.  All the neighborhood kids would come to watch.
Good times.

In My Mother's basement is a 1950's era 5 horse Johnson that is in running condition and a Firestone? basket case that needs a water pump impeller.  Any Idea what they would be worth or sources for parts?

I'd like to get the basket case running and sell them both.  I can get more info on them but it would take me a while.

Thanks.

Found a pic of the of the runner on line,

I believe this is the basket case

That Johnson is a lot earlier than 1950s. Looks more like late 30s to me. I have the 2.5hp version in my garage.
Give me the model numbers of the engines and I will tell you what they are and when they were produced.
Truthfully they are not worth much but there are always guys that seem to grab them and have some fun with them.
Go to www.aomci.org and lurk around there as well.
By the way, Doug Penn (the guy in the video) was down at Lake Shipp this weekend.

Well....we had a total of 233 engines on boats running and on display at this meet. Actually a little more than I anticipated since most members have older engine collections than from the Vintage era.
At the last minute I grabbed a little 1954 Johnson 5 1/2hp engine and the tank that went with it and took it down to display.
Ended up winning the best unrestored original vintage engine with it. Funny thing is that I have an identical engine that has never even been on the back of a boat that I could have taken down there that is absolutely pristine. Even has the original "tested" tag still on the steering handle!!
