Got my beads in today. They look the same as what I used in recently from Innovative Balancing . I've started to split 'em up in 2 ounce zip lock bags; kinda feels like I'm doing some illegal. Since I had to order way more than I'll be needing in my lifetime I'll be glad to share some at a break-even cost - can't beat that. (I hope that I'm not breaking any rules 'bout selling on the board. If I am just let me know and I'll edit this post. Undecided)

In any case it looks like I've bought my last lead weight.

Cool! I'd be willing to buy half of your beads, or at least 2 lbs. Please send me an email or PM to let me know how to pay you.
Thanks!

Jeff,
Bon is sending me 2 lbs, but I'm not in a hurry.
If you need some now, I can ask him to send these to you, and you can send me some later when they are back in stock.
What do you think?  Smiley

Thanks for the offer, but I'm fine.
I am more looking forward to putting them in my truck tires than my bike tires. My truck has had a reoccurring shake that goes away after I rotate tires, then comes back.
So I'm hoping this helps.

Who out there would be willing to split a 5# order?  I have 2 mid size cars and 2 Valks that I would like to try them in.  I'm sure 2 - 2 1/2 # would be plenty for my needs.

Found the web site.  Now, which beads do I order?  The .8 or the 1.0?  They are the same number.  And since Misfit would want to split the order with me, do they send one of those little bottles and tube for inserting them?  Or do you only get that when you order them as Dyna Beads from a retail outlet?  If that's the case could a person find one of those bottles at a hobby store?
I know, a lot of questions, but it's raining here today. Cheesy

The beads are 0.80 to 1.0 in size.
Just order QBZ-58A they are the proper size.
No applicator, It looks like something easy to make.

I ordered some Dyna beads a few weeks ago, the applicator bottle is really nothing more than a small plastic bottle (like a glue bottle) that has a clear plastic tube that attaches to the bottle and the air valve. Should be very easy to find something similar at a craft type store.

By the way I put them in my new Metzler, and they do seem to work very well.

Steve. I have the bottle. I have been using the beads for sometime now. I just like the idea of having them in bulk.

I installed them two weeks ago, took off the lead weights, and immediately noticed an improved ride.  Talk about smooth!!  I’m really sold!  The only problem I can think of is something that just happened to a friend, he got a flat tire the night before an across the country trip.  No time to take the tire off and put in a patch so he used a plug!  Of course this would never work if you had Dyna-Beads ‘cause all the beads would stick to the plug.  Just something to really think about!

I suppose you could keep a spare 1 ounce packet handy and add it before you air the tire back up. I guessing that a single layer of beads stuck onto the plug would immobilize about 1/4-1/2 ounce of beads. Probably the remaining loose beads would balance things out - mostly. When a permanent patch is installed the old plug, goo and stuck beads could be discarded and the amount of beads remeasured and reused.

So... when it's time for a new tire, do you rescue the beads? Or flush them?

The jury is out on this AFAIK. I'm thinking that at about 5000 miles I'm going to try and squirt a few bead out through the valve stem and measure them for wear. I've already measured a number of them and I'm convinced that the vast majority are between .8 and 1 mm in diameter. If they seem to be holding up then I'd say they're reusable and could be collected and reused. Depending on who is doing the tire replacement you might have a tough time convincing them to fool around recapturing the beads though.

Hey Folks,

Just ordered my beads. But what was the best way to weigh them, being that they are so small and apparently scatterprone?
BTW, he said that he has sold about 8-10 qts this past 4-6 weeks to Valk riders.

Cheers,

I have a small digital ounce/gram scale for postage. It was probably an Office Depot purchase some years ago. I use the gram scale because its more accurate @ 1 ounce = 28.35 grams. I was also lucky that I have some 2x3 inch zip lock bags handy but regular zip lock bags should be fine. There's about 2 teaspoons to the ounce if you don't care about being all that accurate. If you work over a dinner plate you can contain most of the beads.

BonS,
Thank you for the info.
I was wondering about where to even get a scale. It helps to have an idea on how to work a procedure with some prior direction.
I have always said "I don't have to invent the wheel, but can learn from those that did".
Thanks,

Balances and seals. I've used it in 5 tires now. Works great. Not arguing against the beads, I know several people that love them, just another option.

OOPS!! Full disclosure; the tires still need to be balanced, but the "ride-on" makes them perfect.

yeap, got my qt of beads in the mail today. MC tire will be here this week. I guess meanwhile I will install the beads in my car tires. the guys at work think that I have lost my mind, but they are slowly begining to understand the science behind it. I just know on a test trial with my car that it smoothed out the front end nicely.
