Hello to all.  I just bought my first Valkyrie and am pretty excited.  I've had a BMW K1200LT for awhile and when I saw the '98 Valk on eBad I just knew I had to have her.  I live in S. Tampa and would like to meet other owners in the near future.  I don't have the Valk in my hands yet cause I have to go up to South Carolina and pick her up.  She seems to have a lot of extras from my basic knowledge of Valks.   Here is a couple of pics.

I live in SC, where will you be coming to get it?

I got my Valkyrie from Philadelphia, and debated riding it back. I'm glad I didn't. It had
rusty drilled out pipes with cut piggies... I would have left it on the side of the road
and walked back home after about 10 miles  Smiley ...

Your bike looks nice. If you aren't already used to loud pipes, and especially if
you wear a full face helmet, better bring some earplugs for those Cobra pipes (which
are a real favorite of a lot of folks here)...

Hello Mike!  Have to pick it up in Summerville.  I'm planning on trailering her back.  Don't like being 750 miles from home on an unknown condition bike.  Gotta see if someone has a trailer I can borrow or rent.  After viewing a couple of YouBoob videos on Cobra pipes I think you might be right about having some earplugs.  Seems like I remember the seller saying he had some baffles to tone it down if I wanted.

Welcome to the Florida Valkyrie Riders Group. I'm sure after you get the Valkyrie Home and add some Personal Touches ,all will be Fine. As for the Cobra Pipes, They are a Bit LOUD with-out the Baffles but they do Sound Really good With the Baffles Installed. Hope to meet you soon, Bert.

Just noticed that there are no guarges for temp and oil pressure.  Think I would like to add guages for them.  Anyone have any suggestions or source links for me?  After buying the bike I find that my pockets are not as deep as before!  At least I have a cup holder!  That's something I always wanted.  LoL

Just noticed that there are no guarges for temp and oil pressure.

There's an idiot light that will come on if your bike starts to overheat.

Your fan shouldn't come on very often, but you should expect it to come on
in hot weather at a lengthy red light.

There might still be some real high quality good looking add-on gauges
available, though, if you want them: http://www.motosens.com/english/f6c_e.htm

There's was some talk on this board about them being discontinued a while back,
but the web page is still there...

Latest word is they went back into production. Don't recall any reasons given for the short hiatus, may have been the big demand for their products that caused them to reconsider.

Also noticed that there is not turn signal warning indicator lights.  Seems that I sometimes forget to turn them off on my LT so I made a blue LED mod, more visual, which I'll probably do for the Valk but a little more pro looking.

The yellow light in the middle on your headlamp housing is the turn signal light.  IMHO there is no need for oil pressure gauge, but if you really want one then go for it.

Welcome to the Florida Board Ron. You have a couple of nice bikes there. I was out riding today and stopped and chatted with a gentleman on a K-1200. He loved it and was also looking for a nice, low mileage Interstate. I'm Jeff from the Apopka area, north of Orlando. I have a 99 Interstate. Those Cobra's sound so good, but so loud!! Like Indian Dave said, see if the PO still has all the original parts.  Hope to meet you soon. Try and make it to Sherry and Jerry's next weekend. Will be a bunch of Valk Folks there. Ride the Beemer if you don't have the Valk yet. We don't care what you ride, just that you ride.

Last Thursday I popped a front brake line and am waiting for my new front and rear lines to come in the mail.  I bought some good Spieglers with lifetime guarantee.  It's crazy being without a daily ride, especially as nice as it has been lately!

That's a Kruzer Kaddy cup holder.  I hated mine.  It swivils.  It dumped my water bottles out onto the road.

I found cup holder nirvana with my Barefoot Willies cup holder......

Well I sure am getting "antsy" about my new ride!  Bought it only four days ago and can't wait to find the time to get up to South Carolina and pick her up.  Wife still hasn't found out yet that I bought a second motorcycle.  Gonna be a few fireworks there for sure!   She's not a moto loving person.  Was going to Amtrak there and ride her back but thought that a bad idea jumping on an unknown bike.  Seller assures me it's in great shape and would have no problems.  Hmmmm.  Anyway a cold front in moving in and my toes might get cold wearing my Florida flip flops coming back!  LoL

I finally found time today to take off for Summervile, SC this morning to pock up my new to me Valkyrie. Got here this evening and will rent a U-Haul trailer tomorrow.  Father-in-law is in guarded stable condition but is failing fast.  Gotta get back by tomorrow at earliest.  Still haven't seen my new ride yet but tomorrow is "THE" day!  Rained  all the way here and hope nice weather tomorrow.

Glad you made it up there ok. Sorry to hear about your Father-in-Law. That must temper the excitement of the new Valkyrie quite a bit. Took the liberty of checking the travel forecast from Summerville to Tampa. You should have a pretty nice drive back home. Only a 20% chance of rain and that's right there in SC. Clear after that all the way home. Drive safe and keep us posted on your FIL.

Thanks for checking the weather for me!  I'm renting an open air trailer and it would be nice to keep it dry.  I forgot to bring a cover but did bring 6 new straps.  Probably get back about 8:30 pm if I have no problems.  Ron

Would not recommend hauling it with a cover, the wind flapping the cover can damage the paint.
Good luck on the new bike.

I've read that it's not good to haul moto from corner to corner in a trailer because of the front forks might twist.  The  overall length of Valkyrie is 100 .2" and traier is 96" long.  Anyone have any advice?  Ron

Ron, I know U-haul rents a motorcycle trailer which fits the Valk very well. I have used it several times myself. I don't know if they would let it go one way or not however.

Anecdotally I'd say don't tie it down corner to corner, my yamaha 490 got hauled that way once
and its forks leaked afterwards... anywho, I'd avoid it.

The Valkyrie's wheels would be solidly touching at 96"... right?... It won't care if its rear fender tip
is sticking out  Wink ...

A couple of good tie downs solidly attached and cranked down enough to "make the bike part
of the trailer" but not tighter. Hook the tie downs somewhere on the bike where they don't
rub on any part of the bike, and make as close to a 45 degree angle as possible. A lot of people
like to attach at the engine guards. I'm not afraid of the handle bars if you hook on at the right place.
Hooking onto the handlebars out near the end where the tension of the straps has leverage to
spin the bars in their clamps could lead to an unhappy day...
