I see lots of posts from riders in the Houston area as well as other outlying areas and would certainly enjoy meeting some of ya. How about some feedback from around the state.

Austin is about 3 hours from Dallas and about 3 hours from Houston. Some talk of a Riverwalk run from DFW was tossed about today as well. Who would be interested in a Central Texas VRCC ride in to Austin or San Antonio?

I didn't forget about you. I am contemplating the Jefferson trip. I had great great aunts from down there and have not been back since they passed many years ago. Jefferson is just a fair bit east and I thought that a central place like San Antonio might bring members form the west and the south who might not go otherwise. Corpus riders might actually come up.

We did something like this already, back in May.  (:
No reason not to do it again, though.  Not sure I could make it, my availability for overnight runs is quite limited, but I'd try.

There has also been a lot of talk about meeting for lunch in Centerville as a midway point between Houston and Dallas.  That would make it a bit longer of a trip for the more western folks, but it would be at a centerpoint between the two largest clumps of folks (and not an overnight run for those large clumps).

I have been to HARD8 in Stephenville, and just recently found out there is one in Coppell TX. Not sure if they are connected. The intent was to find someplace central to a large number of riders. San Antonio seemed like a good destination with lots to do. I was unaware of the event in May.

The Alamo City would work for an overnight ride…..but we were also kicking around a day trip to either Centerville or the “Harley Parking Only” place that QOTFU pointed out. I think either one would be about half way for the DFW and Houston folks.....

Who has the pic of the Valks parked in front of the sign?

Maybe when we go, Chris can bring his "Valkyrie Parking Only " sign and we can replace the "Harley" sign for a photo shoot?

What does everyone think about Saturday, October the 17th? For DFW/Houston meetup in the middle?

Hey Ghillie, just for poops and grins , if you were to draw a triangle between D/FW  , Houston  , and San Antonio ,  what little town or city would be considered in the middle of the three ? would you think that might make alittle easier for everybody to make it ...... just thinking again ....

I HAD ACTUALLY THOUGHT ABOUT THIS.
Hearne TX is considered the Crossroads of TX. In the middle of Dallas, San Antonio and Houston. There is an old WWII POW camp/museum there, historic buildings etc. They hold the Crossroads Championship BBQ Cook-Off and music fest there every year. This year they cancelled everything because there is a similar thing going on in Bryan the same weekend. Oct 13-14.

Maybe we should consider the Big State BBQ Showdown in Bryan as an event. Little rich for my blood at $75 a ticket.

Hey Ghillie , you sound like a man of the world , about how many miles would that be from SA , Houston and/FW that town roughly .... I'll have to look and see what roads or hwy's to use from SA to get there .... would that town have any motels there or near by for those of us who want to stay over .....  I'm like you I'm really enjoying meeting as many of the VRCC members at these get together rides and putting a face to the name .... bestest bunch of folks I've ever met .....

There are several hotels including a Holiday Inn Express and a Bed and Breakfast.

120 miles from Houston
160 miles from San Antonio
170 miles from Dallas

I am really disappointed they canceled the Crossroads BBQ contest. I read about it last year and thought it would be a good way to kill a weekend.

There is a Texas Prize BBQ on Hwy 6. It has received favorable reviews from the guys at BBQ Roadtrip and is big enough to seat a group.

New Yankee Tavern is not far from Hearne.  (New Yankee Tavern is the place QOTFU posted a picture of with our Valkyries in front of the Harley Parking Only sign:

Will do.
October is pretty far away, but with my Valkyrie in the condition it's in (in pieces on the garage floor), I'm not in any position to suggest moving it up.

If we moved it up to the 10th we could go 20 more miles and see TAMU vs Oklahoma State at world famous Kyle Field.

I'm good for OCT 17 ride to Yankee's Bar in Carlos.   I didn't get to go to INZANE because my bike came back from the painter's needing to have all the electrical problems he caused   tickedoff   to be resolved.   It's been in pieces in my garage for the last 10 days    Angry    .  I think (knock on wood) that I've fixed all the problems   ???   , so I'm ready to go somewhere.   October may seem a ways off, but most of these rides have a way of getting here sooner than expected.  And don't forget the Ghostride to Jefferson in AUG. 29th !   cooldude
