« on: July 19, 2009, 11:23:56 AM »

We took off yesterday to ride The Great Smoky Mountains made our way over into Maggie Valley, NC by way of The Blue Ridge Parkway. This was the first July in my life that I stayed cold all day. The weather was beautiful with near record breaking temps .

Same ol' same ol' at Deals Gap the place was makin' money hand over fist. We was told they buy the t-shirts in bulk for about $2.00 and with tax you get a few coins back out of a $20.00 when you buy from them  Undecided

Met a Louisiana Valk rider at Deals Gap yesterday his name was Walt and he claims he reads the VRCC but hardly ever makes a post. He e-mailed me last year after I painted my blue and white " BADMOJO " about my color's used. They got close but his is darker.

Bad crash on The Dragon yesterday as we was headin' home at first they was going to try a air-lift but the trees would'nt let them so we waited about a hour for them to haul the downed rider off to the hospital. Don't know if he made it we was told he had massive head trauma.( Looked like a GSXR 1000 he was on and it also looked to us that a Toyota SUV crossed into his lane ) .
Picture taken about half way between Deals Gap and the over-look. Normandog it was good ridin' with you again and I'm glad you took the really long way home  cooldude
Kendall and Niki good seein' y'all again.
I had 6 riders with me across The Great Smoky Moutains and we hooked up with Ron and Kendall and Niki in Maggie and shared the wind with them before splitting off.

we heard you had stopped by Joe...at the Smoky Falls Lodge. We had quite a few Valks here. but when you came by we were all out riding....many of us, including me, Sherry and Tracy and Don....were on the Parkway.

Good crowd at Maggie for the BBR event.

BUT ON A SAD NOTE, Vicky/TNT crashed on the Blueridge Saturday. a girl in a van actually turned into her and hit her....messing her up...and her brand new sport bike.

I'm in Erwin/Johnson City now....scouting for the Rune Rally. 9000 BMWs here over the weekend for their big rally! Beemers everywhere as i drove here today!

the company and the ride were all excellent. Wish we could have found some of the other folks but man I had a ball. Thanks for inviting me. That's a good group of folks I got to ride with yesterday.
The first pic in this thread really shows the damage being done by a little bug that is killing the hemlock trees. I never can remember the name of it but it is destroying the hemlocks.  Sad

Missed seeing you Joe, we were riding the BRP and ...

The North Georgia Motorcycle Club took a good group to join the BBR folks. We had a great time. Some excellant riding and riding weather. Joe was right, cold riding in July!  Shocked

I was great to see TNT, then tough to heAr about her wreck. - She will be OK, I think. She came back from the hospital Saturday night. They x-rayed and said nothing was broken, but she wasn't so sure. I'm sure she is feeling very sore today.

Get well soon Vicki!  cooldude

Her new Ver Sys didn't look to bad after. It appeared to be mostly cosmetic damage.

My rear tire was toast by Saturday night, so I was careful getting home. Luckily I made it. angel

Stayed tuned for a tire wear poll later.  Cheesy

Hey Joe,
Even though our ride was short with you guys, Nikki and I really enjoyed lunch and the ride.  We hated to split off from the group, but needed to head south.  We are looking forward to riding with you guys again.  You couldn't ask for a better group or better weather to ride in.  Until next time!
By the way...  Good talking to Normandog and Gordon!

Thanks for the intro joe, I always like meeting new valk, riders. You hve a beautiful bike. Sorry to here about the rider on the dragon, we went the other direction when leaving. Also meet several other great valk. riders that day. It was a beautiful day, I love my valk ,this is my 3rd interstate, havent worn any of them out just went a differant direction from the 1st to the second. The second Valk. had 98000 miles on it when I bought this last one with only 17000 miles on it so I had to paint it the blue and white like joes, but came up a little short and my blue was a little darker.

Hey RedValk!

Just got back from the BMW Rally Sunday night!  Had a blast, saw a number of Valks there as well.  I was camping from Wednesday through Sunday!  Love the area.

We drove home after going down and looking at properties in the Marryville area. We were so close to the Dragon I could smell her breath!

My friends ( relocating from WI ) are back in the area today looking at more property.  Hopefully soon, I'll have a rest haven right there in Eastern TN!

I look forward to hookin' up with Smokinjoe some day as well!
