I decided to ride up to Maggie Valley yesterday and to meet up with some of my North Georgia Motorcycle Club Friends and BBR folks that I hadn't seen in a while...I didn't tell anyone I was coming, so I rode up alone and stopped in Tiger, GA for the world's best chiliburgers!!...then it was on up the long way to Maggie Valley....I jumped on the BRP for a little stretch to see the wonderful views...the weather this weekend was FANTASTIC!!!....It was a bit nippy on the BRP and even in MV itself for this time of year...this old Mountain Boy loved it though!!...

The Blueberries were looking good also...

Here's my latest "bling" courtesy of Big Mike....Thanks Mike...You've got email from Paypal my Friend....

Most ppl were out riding when I arrived in MV, but I found a few still around the motel...this place is really nice...it has a biker shed with towels just for the bikes...

The Smokey Falls Lodge is a little nicer than most places we normally stay...

They have a covered pavillion with lots of rocking chairs, seats and tables for the nightly "BS" sessions....sweeeeeet!!!!!...they had a big deck out back by a large creek also...

I didn't take many pics of the festivities, but others did and I'll add them to the album later.....I did take just  a couple on the way home today....it was in the mid 40's in MV this morning and even cooler up on the BRP as I headed home, but I was loving the views and temps...I only saw a few cars and maybe a couple of bikes up there...it was still 58 degrees when I rode through downtown Franklin, NC at 10am this morning...

I had a little talk with "Willie"...(One-eyed Willie when I have a patch made for his eye) and told him to wink but not to gloat too much as I was sure we'd have plenty of chances to smoke a few "Hogs" on the way home....and it was true, we found quiet a few on the way home...I love riding that stretch of Hwy 74 from the BRP back towards Cherokee, NC...it has some high speed curves both going up and downhill and is a prime "hunting ground".... cooldude... Grin

My only complaint is that the time went by too quickly...as always...see you guys somewhere down the road........ cooldude

Hey Stanley!

Did you go past any of the previously closed places on the BRP near Asheville? How were they, one lane?
I really want to go through that part, I stopped just west of I26 last week and headed back...

I only rode a short portion of the BRP....I went North on 441 and turned East onto Hwy 74 just above Dillsboro, NC....about 15 miles East of there, you can jump onto the BRP and I headed South back towards Cherokee....maybe 15 or so miles until I jumped off on Hwy 19....from there, it's just a few miles off the mountain and into Maggie Valley....it was a short but pretty section of the BRP...

The spot at Craggy Gardens, just north of Asheville and south of Mt. Mitchell, is open.   The BRP was still closed a few weeks ago, up by Boone. Believe there are still two detours around Boone / Blowing Rock.  You can always check for an update on the National Park service's web site.
