The State of confusion.

Been scarcer on the lists than I usually am...I've been sort of anxious and preoccupied since this summer. Now I can say for sure why!

Lookee what I bought!

Well...that was her around 1902 anyway.

Here she is now...

She is substantially intact...but needs a LOT of TLC. Sure hope me and the wife are up to the challenge. Maybe we're not. We're gonna try anyway.

Packed full of mahagony, massive French and pocket doors, gorgeous fireplace mantles etc....

(the wife is included in the pic here for scale...that door is nearly 10 feet tall!)

Good heavens...what have I done!

Being a writer as opposed to just an author (authors write to publish, writers write because they have to) I figured since I was going to be writing about the experience anyway (even if only a journal) that I may as well put it out on the web.

More pictures and details here: The Old Victorian. It's a work in progress of course...and the start of a new adventure for sure!

That’s one heck of a commute. Even for someone not afraid of driving 1000 miles for good BBQ.  Cool

Well...there's GOOD Italian there!

Looks great.  Congrats !!!!

Can you recover the fire places?

The chimneys have been taken down below the roof...pretty common in these as the mortar rots over time and they must be taken down brick-by-brick and rebuilt.

We'll take the rest of the chimney down and install a modern firebox and flue. We can get them sized so we can use our tile surrounds and mantels. They'll be more efficient too!

Very cool, Dan'l! I look forward to seeing it in person one of these days. ~Jeff

Thankee! I'll have to have an event or something up there one day...

I bet you will really enjoy it.  It looks like it is really beautiful in a way that they don't make houses any more.

Clarksville as in East of Paris? Guess this isn't a place you're living in right now, then, if you're still working in Dallas?

It's an amazing house. Not practicle at all. The definately don't make them like this anymore.

Not currently. But I'm in tech/computers. I can do the job from there. Now I've just gotta get a work from home policy...(or get retired selling books!)

It's wierd to sit in it and think about the history that has passed...WWI, WWII...man...

Congratulations to you both!

Looks like a great place for an all-day wrench party.  Valk or House.  If it's house-related, I'm sure we can rustle up a group of folks who've benefited from you to provide some armstrong labor in reciprocation.

Nice ride for some fun and big Italian.  Sounds good.

Looks GREAT Daniel.

I'll bet part of the attraction was the castle like features of the roof line.  Perhaps a hint of the days of Knights and dragons... sorta Valkyrie-ish.

The before and after pics are wonderful.

If you decide to have a wrench (Valk/House) party let me know.  I'll bet I'm going to need to do a little homework on 'locks of the past' before I can re-key that old gal.
