Hey Guys,
I'm a long time Valk owner now my brother, David, has finally been bitten by the bug. He's looking at an Interstate at DFW Honda. He's in San Antonio and I'd like to know if anyone knows anything about this bike before we make trip to Dallas to check it out.

Thanks for your help,
Mark Luketic

The price looks good and that is a pretty nice bike.  BUT,

I know of a super nice '99 IS, ~40+K miles, red and black with matching Harbor freight trailer, WAY MORE chrome than that bike ($9000 worth of add ons plus the original parts) LED accent lights, super clean $9500, but it's in Michigan.  I can hook you up with the seller if interested.  I'm serious, this is one, nice bike!

I sat on this bike about 8 months ago...it has been in their showroom a while.  It has come down (substantially) in price...they were asking about 10k initially.  They told me the origianal owner bought the bike from their dealership and traded it in for a new Goldwing.  I never cranked it up....I was not interested in it for the asking price and felt it was too high priced to negotiate it to a price I would consider.  When I was looking at it, it seemed to be in excellent shape for the mileage....

Thanks for all the input.

Westsider, if you have a chance to check out the bike at DFW Honda we'd appreciate your thoughts about it.

Skinhead, we'd like to have the contact information for the Michigan Interstate.

Christbiker, I'll send you a PM shortly.

Timbo, thanks for your input. I was wondering if any VRCC members had considered getting the bike and if so why not.

Mark, I was going to head over and check out the IS  Peyton, the used bike guy said the bike went to Carrollton Tx to run through an auction this Friday, if it does not sell, then he will get it back at his store,DFW Honda. Peyton is his name, if you want to get in touch with him. If it doesn't sell and you want some good eyes on it, let me or someone up here know Happy Hunting .. cooldude

That one must have been there quiet a while........

Hey Gary, I've been swamped with work so I've not had much opportunity to participate in VRCC activities lately. Am looking forward to attending next year's Hill County Ride In or a Ride for Kids event on one of my Valks this time instead of the Gold Wing. It seems as though my brother wants an Interstate and I'd have a difficult time parting with either of my Valks anyway.  Smiley

To me, price is high for basically stock bike.  I would expect a number of goodies for that much.

I agree with HH and others----priced too high.  Plus I would rather buy a 13+ year old Valk with 35000-50000 miles on her than one that's been in storage for 10 years and real low mileage.  These babies are meant to be ridden and anything that may go south (alternators, etc) probably have and been replaced.   Just my feeble old mind mouthin off.

Blessings,

Well, this is the Texas board - it's generally more civilized and refined.

The General Board might be closer to what you are used to. Evil

that is a real deal, 98pacecar. I was hoping to get 4K from my latest aquisition, a work in progress. black 99 tourer, sans bags. I have been syncing carbs, but my guages need to be zeroed and i need to replace steering head bearings for a  truely sweet ride. It is fast w/60K miles and an interstate tank and carb springs. My usual Valk has 128K miles and is still running strong.

Hey Bruce you get a new toy. I need to do my head bearing also. I bought mine over a year ago just haven't shutdown long enough to do them. 170,000 and still going strong.
