After the clutch handle is removed, can you pull out the push rod and boot? And will fluid come out? Thanks

I've pulled them out serveral times and never had fluid come out..the dust cover is just to keep dirt out.

Pull it out, clean it and put a dab of grease on the ends - makes for buttery smooth clutch lever action!  cooldude

The simple answer is yes.  The hydraulic fluid is sealed in with seals on a piston which is retained body by a small snap ring.  I currently have my master cylinders completely apart and will be rebuilding them in the near future.

So if there is fluid behind the boot, will I need to change the piston assembly?

The short answer is yes. There shouldn't be any fluid in there. cooldude

I just replaced my handle, bushing, push rod and boot. The boot and push rod will pull right out without exposing the master cyclindr or fluid. The new rod and boot can be reinstalled witout any fluid loss.
