Well, I got the stupid stuck seat problem.  It was a pain to get it finally released.

The latch wasn't retracting all the way.  After screwing with the center cover and removing the part the key goes in, I figured out the problem was at the latch itself.  It was bottoming out (okay sidewaysing out).   It wouldn't have mattered how hard I pulled the cable, it was not going to release.

At the latch, the cable is secured in a "V" shaped frame.  My answer was to smack that with a screwdriver and bend it back (towards the front of the bike).  It doesn't take much, maybe 1/16 - 1/8 inch.  It is easier with the latch removed, but you can slide the screwdriver under the latch and up against the "v" brace.  You can see that the latch fully retracts now. Should have done this a long time ago.  Hope it helps someone.

Hope that worked out for you because removing the latch is a 'WAYOVER THE TOP' time grabber  Angry

I recently couldn't release my seat, but the cause of my problem was different.  Once we got everything removed, we found that the cable had rusted and seized.  We got it broken free, lubed it, and reinstalled it.  So far, so good.

(have a new one on the shelf for next time, though)
