...here in Erwin/Johnson City. No luck finding a replacement so far. We're going to try to limp on up to Don and Tracy's today....with the kickstand bungied up. hopefully we'll find a replacement part sooner or later! If someone near Johnson City has a spare spring bolt laying around.....................

If someone near Johnson City has a spare spring bolt laying around..................... Mine broke recently. I used a metric shoulder bolt (same size and length) that I found at the local ACE hardware store. I did have to use duct tape wrapped around the bolt to keep the spring from sliding up the bolt. This was meant to be a temporary replacement. But it has been working so well that I keep forgetting to order a new one.

Hey RedValk , my bolt broke also and I went to the hardware store and found the nut that fit the KS bolt and that told me which metric bolt with the right pitch to use and I found a grade 8 stainless bolt and used two nuts , one for a lock nut and it gooder than new ..... anything is better than that jap pot metal junk .... I always use grade 8 when possible .... at the same time , I carry a spare spring, bolt and nuts just in case maybe a fellow Valk rider has the same thing happen on the road .... all I need now is a spare kick-stand , for just in case !!!

Thats what I did also. I couldn't figure out the side stand harness on how to put it back together so I cut it off. I also screwed the new bolt down further so it would hit the frame before it would the bolt. Mine is SS and he said it was a grade 5. Stand seems to move alot easier now.

Did the same thing but used alum. spacers to keep the spring in place. Still working fine after a couple of thousand miles. Ordered the replacement bolt from HL several weeks ago, still waiting...

we limped in to VA and made it to Don and Tracy's. While there, they took me to this fantastic friend of theirs who owns a repair shop. He also has a Valk....and can fix ANYTHING. he welded me up a special bolt ....with a washer welded on near the end...to keep the spring in place. After his fix and a little lube from Don, she was as good as new (the kickstand....Sherry is a bit tired....but i'll post more on the trip later!) thanks for all the good advice and offers. I'm about to order several replacement bolts.....some for me...and some for Don and Charlie, Don's friend....... but i agree, a good bolt 'rigged' properly can do the job and do it well...............maybe even better? oh, we'll be carrying a bungie from now on in case something like this happens again

When mine broke, I couldn't find a bolt out in the boonies, but I did find a discarded coat hanger in the ditch. That got me to town. Also had a welding shop rig me up a bolt similar to what you said Don's buddy fixed. Don't make the same mistake I did, I replaced the bolt and I've cussed it ever since. Plus, the welded one is in my shop somewhere. When I find it, it will be reinstalled. Ya already guessed it didn't ya? I don't have a clue where it is... Damn poor memory anyway.
