Yesterday  since the roads were dry and the sun shinning I rolled the Fat Lady out to take her for a short ride to circulate the seafoam through the carbs a little. I started it and as she was warming up I started hearing a rattling from the motor that was getting louder and was related to rpms. You know the kind of noise that just makes you want to puke! Since the last thing I had done  to her was replace the MARs altenator that craped out after 26k miles with a oem Goldwing alt.  I removed the altenator I quickly saw the problem. The nut that holds  the coupler on the alt that goes into the dampners had backed off allowing it to wobble as it rotated. I looked everything over good and it appears that I was lucky and caught it before any damage.

I pulled out my alternator a month ago to examine the brushes etc.  I found that nut loose but had not heard anything while I was still riding.  I guess we are both lucky.  Although, I don't know where that coupler would go in the assembly.
