The beetle bags mounting plate rubs against the swingarm, (above decal) see pics.

Beetlebags were installed by previous owner so i'm not sure if there are special instuctions or parts missing.  I removed one of the allens where the hole is in the beetlebag mounting plate(hard to see the hole but it's in middle of wear area), it was gouging the swingarm.  Now I'm just getting the rubbing that's wearing the swing arm.

Once you get the beetlebag thing figured out, you can get a good swingarm from
Pinwall for about $35.00...

I have no idea how helpful Mike Corbin and Company are, but I would be inclined to send them an email with pics, and a request for an original parts list for the instal, so you could compare it with what you have.  At least call and try to have a conversation with a tech guy.

With only what you've shown, it sounds like spacers (collar spacers) or washers may have been deleted.

I have Beetle Bags on my 97 Standard but my mounting holes look  a bit different. It is in storage right now or I would take some pictures. Based on memory, the metal plate at the front of your bag is cut different, and mine only have 1 set of holes drilled in the bag. The top two holes in your picture look about right, but I think mine are closer to the back of the bag, maybe the PO mounted them too far forward?

Boy that's a shame, those bag mountings are obviously hitting the swing arm when the bike and rider compress the rear shocks. I'm would be surprised if you couldn't hear it when contact was made. It was mentioned earlier about the bags being to far forward, but I guess that they were mounted to low and/or the spacing from the fender is to shallow.  Undecided

I am also curious what the rails look like that the bags are bolted too.  I wonder if they are the same as mine.

I did contact Corbin and they gave me a link to there mounting instructions.  Not much help kind of a cheesy pencil drawing. Not sure it's even Valkyrie specific.
heavyd, I'm assuming the rails are stock with longer bolts sticking out that go through the fiberglass holes in the bags. The bottom metal bracket on bags mounts to the loose bolt in the first picture.

Is that a stock chrome plate in my first picture? Maybe that's the problem.

My mount looks at least roughly the same except it isn't chrome, and you must have adjustable passenger boards do you?

The mount is the triangular piece (black) in the center of picture. It's screwed to the chrome piece holding the passenger floorboards.  Is that chrome piece stock, if not that could be my problem?

I don't have Corbins, but my first thought would be that maybe the bag mount is supposed to be on the front side of the muffler hanger instead of behind it?? Is that possible?

It looks like when the aftermarket rear footpeg mount was added, the bag mount was put behind because it would no longer go out front,, so there is not proper clearance now.  Maybe a little work on the metal bag mount and placement on the outside of the hanger will clear things up.

Can someone with Corbins post a pic of the mounting bracket similar to the one I posted, so I can see where the bracket goes and what it looks like.

Got you some pics, hope they help.

Mine don't rub on the swingarm, but they rub against the seat which will be fixed when I HOPEFULLY get my ultimate seat next year.

Thanks for the great pictures heavyd. My Beetlebag mounting brackets are behind the footpeg/muffler hangers, and yours are in front of footpeg muffler/hanger brackets.
But if I move mine in front of muffler/hanger bracket it will be in the way of the Corbin side covers (they take up way more space then the stock sidecovers). Sounds like some serious fabrication is needed. Bending and cutting.

Maybe I am ready your last post wrong, but my mounting brackets are the muffler hangers iirc. I have the cobra 6x6 pipes, and there are two holes on the bottom edge of the triangular bracket that they bolt to. If I was guessing I would say that the PO mounted your bags slightly lower than mine so the seat didn't rub like mine does, but instead it rubs the swingarm.

Yeah, but at least you know where the problem is.

Heavyd I'm calling the triangular piece( yours is purple on one side) the mounting bracket. It mounts to the muffler hanger.

Pancho My Beetle bags must have the wrong mounting brackets, there shouldn't be fabrication of the bracket involved.

Does anyone have Corbin Beetlebags and Corbin side covers. A picture of mounting brackets installed would be worth a thousand words!!!

I agree, but I think that we can agree that if you can get the mounting bracket on the outside of the muffler hanger (where it apparently belongs) that the swingarm rubbing will go away. It seems that the custom passenger peg mounts are in the way,, the bag mount design did not take them into account.

Pancho; not only are the peg mounts are in the way, but when the mounting bracket is moved to the outside of the muffler bracket, the mounting bracket will now be in the way of the Corbin side cover.  tickedoff

Now that is odd Whitestroke,, you know those two items should work together. Would it work if you  mounted the bags first , then put the side covers on?? (with all the footpeg hardware removed) Surely someone who visits here have both on their bike.

BTW  really nice color on your bike,, I'd like to see a picture of the whole thing.
