Well nuts; I bought a Hopkins 46255 converter and when it came the package said it was for trailers with a common brake/turn signal. My Escapade trailer has a separate tail/brake light unit from the turn signal unit. Has anyone used this particular converter in this type of a wiring set up? If so, what modifications have you done? The bulbs are not LED on the bike or trailer. Thanks Jay.

I did not use a converter for my trailer. But I did change out all the lights to LED.

All the lights or just the ones on the trailer?   I thought if all LED it needed some kind of load balancer or something like that.

Just on trailer, when they were incandescent you could just barley see the brake lights, since I swapped out to LED they are really bright.

I suppose you need to know if the bulbs are one or two element type. When I converted my rear lights to run/brake/turn changing out the sockets to use the 2057 bulbs I too used a Hoppy convertor. The first one I purchased was not supplying enough voltage so the bulbs were dim and so were the LEDs not bright. When I called Hopkins they recommended I try the 46365 unit. This different unit worked great. The LED lights are bright now. So far so good now. Call them for help.

Ok, thanks Brian. The tail/brake light unit has a 2 element incandescent bulb for tail and brake light function only. Then there is a separate unit for turn signal only which actually has a 2 element incandescent bulb which apparently only uses one element. I did call their tech help and the fellow I spoke to said the 46255 would not work for my set up and they did not have anything that would work for me. My lights are bright enough but I liked the thought of protecting the bikes lighting circuits. He did say that there are others that may be available. I wanted to run this past you guys for advice before I send it back, Jay.

So let me understand something. You are only talking about the trailer? If it is I apologize as what I did was just for the rear lights on the bike. Sounds like you may have to rewire the trailer. Just my two cents.
