Pulled it to drain old gas and mine is just a solid tube about 4-5" tall, and the reserve hole is just-A-HOLE (sorry, couldn't resist). Am I missing something? No wonder these petcocks fail......

The screen is still inside the opening of the tank bung.

If you look at the hole in the bottom of the tank where the petcock goes in, I'm betting you will see a plastic ring up in there. Grab that with a pair of needle nose pliers and give it a gentle tug two or three times. That is the screen, it commonly stays in the tank when you pull the petcock out.

There is no specific "hole" for the reserve. It uses the same area of the tank, just draws fuel from the base of the pickup tube as opposed to the top of it.

They must have changed the screen tube.  My 98std screen tube comes out with the petcock and it's inlet tube.  Just a fine-mesh screen tube, maybe 5/8" diameter by 2" long IIRC, looks like SS screen made together with a nylon frame that surrounds the inlet tube.

I changed by petcock recently solely because it was 16 years old in an effort to avoid hydrolock. The screen stayed in the tank and had to be pulled out with needle nose pliers.
