The shop manual says the side stand lock nut is 10 mm thread diameter.
Also it torques to 22 Ft Lbs.

Hey Old Grouch , when I replaced the bolt on the kick stand I also went and bought a spare bolt that connected with the spring underneath and a spare spring because that mickey mouse pot metal bolt underneath is known to BREAK when you least expect it to and wind up with no spring and NO KICK STAND FOR PARKING ..... It happened to me luckily in my driveway after backing out , when I was pushing out the kick stand I heard a click and as I was getting off the bike while its leaning I noticed the kick stand pointing out to the side FLAT on the ground , my bike kept on leaning and leaning to the point of no return and on the ground .... Luckily I had help with my neighbor to get my Fat Lady up-right again ..... You can gas up while your sitting on your Valk , but when you get home and NOBODY is home then you have to be real inventive where to park your bike in gear against a wall , until you can get some jack stands on both side ..... Soooo now I cary a spare spring and bolt that holds the spring in place , just my .02 cents ...... Thanks the Geezer

Geezer, thanks for the advice. I have a spare spring & bolt. The dealer didn't have the nut in stock. The bike leans a lot. More than I like. Nothing is bent under there. I thought maybe the missing nut would account for that. Stan

Look under there again a cracked frame or bracket damage might not be visable on a lift. Try looking with the sidestand supporting the bike.
