Did something wrong and this got deleted.

Broke stud off half way and need to know how to get it out. Can get a hold of it. Does it screw out? Which way do the threads go,normal or backwards?

It screws out the normal way. Might want to spray it with maybe wd40 or something like that. Also I would take a small hammer and barely tap the end and maybe this will shock it enough to make it come out better. JAT

Delisle makes a stud extractor that works really well.  Tap it onto the stud then unscrew it.  I was amazed it was that easy.  I found mine at Sears in the auto section of the hardware dept.

If have a Welder You can Weld a Nut onto it . (done this many times)

I think you said not flush but for future referance the welding trick works on flush ones as well.

Also

Sometimes when flush  you will be surprised often a small Pick works just turn the stud out.

I've done this many times on Broken head bolts on ford tempo , ford taurus and ford aero star vans.

If you can get vise grips on it, soak with kroil or second choice WD-40.  If you have a propane torch heat up the stud some before you put on the oil.  Wait overnight if posible and then put the vise  grips to work.  And hope it does not break.
