I have the low rpm miss, probably due to this bike sitting for the past 2 years.  I have been reading the posts lately about cleaning the main and slow jets.  Seems I will be tackling this job soon.  What I would like to know is:
do I only need to be concerned about cleaning the main and slow jets?  Besides the jets and of course the bowls, are there other things I need to clean while I have it apart?

I would clean out the tank and the fuel screen on the petcock.  Maybe rebuild the petcock too.  That is what I am going to do when my parts get here.

If you've tried heavy doses of Seafoam or Techron without success then the slow jets are probably clogged. The main jets rarely have that problem. Check the condition of the tank with a mirror and flashlight, if you find rust do a search of the archives. Some of us have installed fuel filters to avoid trouble with the slows (other than caused by ethanol) as well as float valves failing to close which can result in the dreaded hydrolock.
Rebuilding your petcock as mentioned is a good way to avoid hydrolock as well. You can order a "cover set" from HDL for the rebuild parts.

yes, clean out the pilot jets too and replace their o-rings.  Good time to do vacuum lines, caps, and intake o-ring replacement.  I replaced my drain lines and fuel lines so I'm good for another 10 years.
