For those that own the 6-Into-6 pipes, does anyone have the longer quiet baffles or know someone who does? Do they work very well or not much improvement over the stock baffles. I have mine fiberglass wrapped and they did knock the noise level down to being tolerable. I still would like to reduce the noise level and was wondering if the quiet baffles would be worth the money. I do like the look of 6-into-6 pipes over the stock exhaust.

RON with these pipes the bike will never sound like your BMW, I have the 6x6 on mine going on 4 years,baffles inside never taken them off or wrapped them with anything, they are not overbearing at least to me, may be like i said before i got used to them, no neighbor ever complained about the bike either, and no cager ever rolled the window up unless if they are on the phone...its just a nice rumbling sound...if you still not happy, then stock pipes is the only way out...my suggestion is you need to get on that bike and ride the heck out of it, try not to compare it to the BMW sound and you will be just fine.

I Personally never seen anything like this on this Board, i have on the general board- this is a very tight group that has met numerous occasion, Nobody knows this better than you TJ, you been around VRCC longer than most...and though we may not get the chance to talk to every single person sometimes when we meet but really fine folks and we always have fun, everyone is helpful here, we treat eachother with respect and been courteous to one another ...this is a new comer here, has lots and lots of questions and thats ok, this is what this forum is all about: to share knowledge, experience, routs and learn about this fine machine and about eachother in the meantime, while preserving good character and dignity for all. |

Leave poor TJ alone! He's just venting for some unkown reason to us. Maybe he's doing his tax's and just really pissed off about it. Besides, "yesterday I sold my beloved BMW!" Gonna do the sale on Friday. Just wanting to find a way to make my "beloved" Valk a better ride for me. I really love the style and look of the Cobra pipes and trying to make the growel a little better for my taste.  As a side note, I'm looking for a early GL1000 or 1100 to try my hand at making a Cafe style bike. How could a Valk owner not want one of these as a second bike?  ]  |

The quiet baffles have a closed end and a block off plate inside to restrict and divert exhaust gases. But thanks for the effort Old_Dog. They cost about $35 each. Hey Ron, I Believe That Old Dog Was Referring To Buying The Extra Baffles And Welding Them To The Exhisting Baffles To Create A Longer Baffle So The Exhaust Would Be Quieter. I Sold The Set I Had For $120.00 On E-Bay, They Would Have Worked Well Welded To Your Exhisting Baffles. Like Some Have Said The Cobra's Aren't For Everyone, Either You Like Them Or You Don't. It Sounds Like if You Could Pick Up A Set Of Stock Exhaust For A Reasonable Price You Would Probably Be A Lot Happier With The Sound And You May Experience Improved Performance.

post. ( that's almost 4 post a day on stuff he's to busy to look up for him self or to complain

Just because they stopped making ours in 2003, and most of us have been there and done that for years, does not change that.
Researching old posts/threads can be helpful, but you do not always find what you are looking for, or even the right answer.

No As you can see I am not from Florida nor will ever live there but I read ALL posts on ALL threads for info. Hell I ride a first year Valk and bought it new and still don't know a bunch that I need to. Have I ever had issue one with my phat girl? No but when I do you know where I am gonna ask? Here and if I have 216 questions so be it. As was stated above someone has gotten under someone else's skin (reason unknown) but just don't read a post if you don't like the author and let it be.

Hey Ron, Don't remember if I've shared this with ya or not. I've put this out quite a few times. When I had my 6x6's 2qmedic gave me this tip to quiet them down. Pull the baffle and on the engine side there is a 1" tube sticking out. Insert a freeze plug in to that tube and either weld or rivet in place. Then drill a 3/4" hole in the freeze plug (1/2" is too much back pressure) then wrap the baffles if you still need them quieter. Just keep in mind that the fat girl has a 6 cyl motor which is why its far superior to the BMW....  |

 Hello Folks... Just a few days before my m/c accident of 28 December I had received the shipment of my 6 to 6's for my Standard. The accident happened while I was riding my '97 Wing. Nice bike!! Probably me that posted about fiberglass packing back in November. Got it from the Honda dealer. Think mine is starting to blow out because I used tape to instead of wire to hold it in. Next time I change it, I'll try 1/4" hardware cloth or chicken wire to secure it around the baffle.  |

Uh oh! Now your trying to get me into trouble here. I have already been looking at various GWing bobber forums to see what's being done by others. Bet I'll have a lot newbie questions there also. The two earlier photo's I posted above, is what really got me interested. Probably not going to start doing anything for another month or two when the weather gets a little better. I don't have garage or carport to do the work. I do have a 10x10 pop-up on the large cement pad in my back yard though. Gonna get my glass bead blaster out of storage and set it up in preparation. Don't know that I'll be doing a lot of chroming but maybe use some engine paint on the block.
Does yours have the enfamous "clunk?" Mine does and it's a pisser. Some kind of problem with the drive shaft damper spring input shaft sorta "thing."

IMO, THE BEST SITE for the GL1000 to GL1200 is "Naked Gold Wings (NGW)." Some of us in this club are also members of NGW. Anything and everything that you can think to do to your Naked Gold Wing is discussed there. Think of it as the VRCC minus Political or Religious Threads. SUPERB People like us Too! Someone above wrote something to the effect that early Wings are the "Grandmother of the Valkyrie." After owning 7 of them myself (75 - 78), I could not have said it better. IMO, mechanically speaking and in general, a NGW GL1000 is an Old Skool Valkyrie.... 4 carburetors 999 cc four-cylinder Box Engine.... SPOKE Wheels (75-77). I think of HER as a 66% scale down from a Valkyrie Standard, but not as Pissed. You want to PISS HER OFF? Start by sheddin' close to 70 lbs. Go CAFE, it is a relatively inexpensive option. If one is motivated you could strip her down of absolutely non-essentials inside 4 hours. All this include Breaks for your favorite-drink, a Sandwich and some private flatulatin' ... all @ no cost. Sing:tickedoff: AN APOLOGETIC SUGGESTION ??? I apologize for "severely"contributing to the hijackin' of this thread. Please reject my freakin' apology!. JUST A SUGGESTION: Those of you that are more knowledgeable about GL1000's ought to open a thread on "THE GL1000... ODIN'S MANIFESTO... VALKYRIE'S BORN..." ...   Something like that or... Jeff, getting up/down is still a hassle with this darn right hip. I've tried messing with it while sitting on my little scooter stools but even that is difficult....at the highest setting they're still quite low. Going to try messing with it a bit this weekend so I can get the frame painted, then I can get it up on wheels. "Someone" will most definitely be pleased with just that much progress.  |

Nice...bought an 82 Aspencade a couple of years ago. Got it all tore down and I'm thinking the engine is shot (luckily didn't pay much for it)...took the side covers off and stuff looks melted. Haven't decided if I want to part it out or try buying a new engine.... |

I see brackets there for a set of Krauser bags. Did you get the bags as well? Used to have a set of those on my Suzuki GS650 and loved them. Even the brackets by themselves should be worth a dime or two to someone trying to fix up an old school Wing.

Nice wing! I'd like to be able to follow your progress on your new project, as I follow as much of John's wing project as he goes along. Agree with Jess, don't hide your work/fun. Always liked the individuals work over production models be it cars, bikes or just folks mechanical projects. James

James Being you live in Tampa, like me, you could come over and get some greasy hands and offer suggestions and moral support! LoL Gonna leave tomorrow for Tallahassee to pick up the new wing. Have to work on my Tahoe's trailer towing lights and make sure they are ok. Had some problems when I went up to S.C. to pick up the Valkyrie. U-Haul trailer rental is about $100. |

I think this thread should die peacefully. Don't think G-Wings should be "muddying" up the VRCC forums. I did join the Naked Goldwings and have talked about the two over there. Request no more talk about wings here and let's talk about Valks! Thanks

Hands greasy; most of the time anyway or close to it. I'm just across town Tampa/Temple Terrace border.
I agree with Pappy. I think many are interested in folks projects. Also note that there are many other threads about the Honda F6B........Goldwing....not a Valk. Sure as far as a lot of tech help the naked wing site has it going on, but we all like a bike thread.
