Get a hold of John Schmidt. He has been there & done that, to perfection of course.
He's all over the Florida board.  Wink

Solid state ignition means you need to try and match the impedance of the stock wires/caps/connector assembly.

When I go to the link on the Shoptalk page that is supposed to have the write-up on how to make your own ignition wire set using the original ends but new wire
http://www.valkyrieriders.com/ShopTalk/plugwires.pdf
I get an error of:

      Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Does anyone know where I can find that document?
Thanks

Hey Vermonter. I saved John's shoptalk how-to as a PDF file back when it was still accessible. I did the mod with the same 7mm wire set that John used, and I'm pleased with the result. PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.

read http://magnecorusa.com/   the best u can get

if u want other colors as I did   Moroso Blue Max is the closest I could find to magnecor design. Been on bike for 50k miles still running strong.
https://www.moroso.com/moroso-shop-browse/32000/3239/

see Blue max spiral core.

I dipped the black ends in yellow plastic dip.

Thank you all VERY much - I accessed the article via the wayback link from Gondul- thanks!

Regarding the question of "why" - it's not something that I plan to do in the near future. But since the bike is 21 years old and I've had other vehicles in which plug wire insulation eventually degrades just from age, heat, weather pollution, etc., I wanted to be aware of how it's possible to fit new wire into the OEM end terminals, so that I can do it if/when I need to - and glad to know that it _is_ possible to re-use Honda's unique end terminals rather than chase around for a near-but-not-quite-equivalent.

Thanks again!

the Honda OEM wires do not degrade due to how they are made. They are solid core with a resister in the plug end. cannot be compared to other vehicle plug wires.

May I ask why you want to do this?

I just took my plug wires apart today, I have some corrosion at the wire ends on the resistor end (plug end of the wire) as well as on a couple of the resistors.   On one resistor the corrosion is heavy enough that I have a problem reading continuity through it.  Plan or replacing the wires to freshen the connections and clean up other components and put them back together.

For reference if anyone is interested - I checked the assembled wires with a good Ohm meter and they show and they showed 4.5 - 5.0 K ohm of resistance with fresh wire and the internal connections cleaned up.
