When replacing the screw for the Timing cover it says to use sealant on the one screw but not what kind of sealant? That is the question what kind???  Also do I need to take off the ignition pulse generators to replace the belts and tensioners?? If there are any other tips go ahead I can take it, hit me with them. 102,560 miles. Doing the replace of belts and tensioners for peace of mind, to old to sit on the side of the road.

I got new tensioners when I got new belts. They're in my shed.

I do a lot of stuff wrong once or twice, just do it over and all is well.

It could be a drag to put timing belts on wrong... I think I'm going to
do that with help...  cooldude

The sealant is needed because that bolt goes into the oil cavity in the engine. No pressure, just oil vapor. Use a sealant for petroleum distillates. Permatex non hardening stuff is fine.

Follow the manual, it is very simple, don't take any shortcuts, remove the pulse generators. Always check and recheck your timing marks. Good luck.

Just make damn sure that when the belts are off, DO NOT rotate the crankshaft or cam shafts..

Step one in removing timing belts.....REMOVE ALL SIX SPARK PLUGS....this reduces the risk of spontaneous rotation due to compression.

When the belts are in and double checked , with the spark plugs removed , rotate the engine by hand at least two full revolutions ((by hand.))  If this goes well then you should be home free.

And check that the alignment marks are still aligned.

Make sure you replace the impulse generators EXACTLY like they came off. I accidentally switched them and bike ran like an 850 pound turd.  I thought my timing was off  easy fix though.
Just follow the manual and youll be fine. Good luck! cooldude
