just wanted to let you all know Pub 44 in NSB is back open.   has a new owner & now called "HT Pub 44", but Gilley (former owner) will be his adviser for biker events.   so guess at bikeweek it should be hopin again.   :-)     will have to check out the burgers & let you know.

Deb,

Is that the place you and Fred led a small group of us to once upon a time that had the killer Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches? I believe that is the best one I've ever eaten!!! In fact, that one completely turned me around on those... I'd pretty much given up on ever ingesting another since the last few elsewhere had been so disappointing... But that one was soooo good, that I began eating them again... and continuing... Miss y'all...

that was "Famous Philly" in Port Orange.  last 2 times we were there it wasn't as good.  they changed the meat and are not as big as before so we stopped going.  but yes they were great!  maybe at bike week they will fix it, we'll go just for you and give a report.  Wink
Pub 44 is in New Smyrna and started out as a fruit stand and then turned into a one room biker bar and as Gilley made money at bike and other events he added more space.  it's now 2 story, about 6 rooms with large outside deck.  plus the Harley dealer is right next door.
because of family issues Gilley sold it and a surfer bought it and completely changed it.  Renamed it JJ Fins, changed inside and out plus the food.  stopped bikers and some of the other events so it went down the drain in about a yr.   the locals can only spend some much and didn't like the changes either. it has been sitting empty for over a yr and finally sold a few months ago.
the new owner has a biker bar just down from Philly's right on the river, good food to and very biker friendly.   Hideaway Treasures, I think that's what it's called?  Good soups and fish.
I think HT Pub 44 opened today so we'll have to check it out soon.  they had good fish & chips on friday so might have to see if that's back?
so if your in the area we can check out both places.   cooldude
