A bad map and a long ride in Northern New Mexico!

Jacksboro, TX

Got out today and did a few miles... The old Valk still turns heads, a lot of times people walk past the other bikes to go look at it up close...thats kind of amazing that after 10 years it still draws admirers.

Anyway, left Jacksboro, rode around Possum Kingdom lake, and headed over to the small town of Strawn, Tx and had a real (notice I said real) good chicken fryed steak at Mary's (highly recommended).  The medium size was more than I could handle, and I am growing boy.  BTW, the drinks are cold too.

Anyway, came back around Palo Pinto Lake and headed up the twistys on hiway 4 south of Palo Pinto, TX before heading home thru Mineral Wells (hiway 4 is closed north of Graford).

Temps were over 100 when I got back to the house, and the air conditioning sure felt good, as did the nap afterward!!!   Grin

It wasn't the Blueridge Parkway of North Carolina (I love it around Linville Falls), or the mountains of Colorado, but it was good riding with friends, doing roll ons with one of my riding buddies (he has a yamaha v twin that runs good).  We had time to air them both out today a little bit.  Ironically, I still got about 35 mpg.. the most I have ever had on this bike during a Texas drive.

You guys in DFW might give me a holler and we will meet up and ride 4 down and across the way thru Mingus and Strawn one of these days.

see ya,

Craig

Sounds like a good day on the bike. And, yep, it was hot where we were riding, too.  Hit Antelope last weekend, but it was all work before the rains hit.
