Depending on the weather, like if it ever stops snowing up here in NY
I am riding out to GOTF, but taking the long way by touching the pacific ocean near Beverly Hills
(I just always wanted to do that)   Plan is leave here March 25

If Blizzard that day will have to leave April 2nd and go reverse directions (always good to have a plan B)

If the good Lord provides sunny skies I hope to be entering the Republic of Texas first thru Oklahoma (where Valker awaits in Pampa) and then re-entering from the vicinity of Carlsbad Caverns

Is Carlsbad to Friendswood possible, best route, radar traps to avoid, good safe place to hunker down if necessary

Look forward to seeing so many friends again soon

yes carlsbad  to freindswood is possible, there are a number of routes. You can get around San Antonio farley easy but you will have to deal with Houston, the town is a speed trap....LOL . Coming in at Carlsbad on 285 through Pecos down  Fort Stockton where you can pick up I10 then hit it east, speed limit is 80 up to Kerrvillie then 75 all the way to SA, once through SA spped limit is 75 all the way to Houston. Now if your not in a hurry and feel like messing ass around then there are more route then i can tell you, just  check google maps and have some fun cooldude

80 sounds like a righteous speed limit to me

is that the new toll road or just the usual mosey along speed?

The Interstates in that part of Texas are 80mph all the time. They drop to 75 when approaching large cities. Most highways and even most two lane highways are 75mph. here. I can't wait to see you again. I will try to plan time off for both Plan A and Plan B. cooldude

I-10 is 80 Mph from just outside San Antonio to almost El Paso. Virtually every road West of Abilene is 75 mph.

If you are bound and determined to ride Interstate that sound like a plan. But there is a lot of Texas you'll miss. Many of the two lanes are seventy mph and although there are small towns to go through, there are many small towns to go through that can surprise you. I'm partial to 36 out of Abeline. A little messy around Temple but brings you in west of Houston.

What might miss blitzing the Interstate is the start of spring floer season. Depending on rain it could be a majestic sight. But, it will be a bit longer but...........

If you've got the time:

-Be sure to GO to Carlsbad Caverns and schedule a day there if possible.
-Between there and Friendswood, detour to Kerrville and spend a day riding the 3 Twisted Sisters, RR 335, RR 336 and RR 337. Awesome motorcycle roads. http://www.motorcycleroads.com/75/555/Texas/The-Three-Sisters-%28AKA-The-Twisted-Sisters%29--Ranch-Roads-335-336337a.html
-Whatever way you go, see ya'll at the shindig! Can't wait!
