I got a new Propeller (Drive) Shaft and pinion cup along with the Oil Seal for the Pinion cup and I need to know if I am supposed to pack the oil seal with grease ?  If so do I just fill in the gap where the spring is inside the seal ?  Undecided

As soon as I get that little tid bit of information I will be on my way to re-assembly... cooldude

Thanks for your input,

I'm no expert, but I didn't pack mine. I did lightly put some on and wiped off just so it wouldn't grab on any thing

This is from the manual, I didn't pack mine.

Pack 2 g (0.08 or) of molybdenum disulfide grease into the
plnion joint spline.
Install the drive shaft into the pinion joint until the stopper ring
seats in the pinion spline groove.

NOTE
Make sure that the stopper ring is seated properly by
pulling on the drive shaft lightly.
Be careful not to damage the drive shaft oil sea[.

I greased this new one up when I installed it. Less than a tire later, it had come out
of the pinion cup and the cup and drive shaft were ruined...

The failure of the seal is not what caused the shaft/cup failure.  It is the other way around.  The cup and shaft start to heat up from friction caused by lack of lube and the heat destroys the seal.

This comes back to----- is the shaft/cup lubed with final drive fluid coming through the two holes in the cup or is it lubed by the grease installed at assembly?????

I know I wasn't putting enough grease in the pinion cup at assembly, because I weighed it last
time... it is time for a new tire... I'll see what's in there now soon...

Of course, all greases don't weigh the same amount, but "four quarters worth" is how
much grease the Honda manual calls for...
