I am performing a 20,000 mile check on the cup and drive. I have the new orings. I also want to remove the final drive so that i can throughly clean it so i can check for wear. Oh...the cup was wet and gooey...(just the way i like it) It wasnt dry even after 20,000 miles. the bike now has 82,000 and the teeth on the pinion cup look great....but can't really tell on the final drive.
I know theres more than simply removing the 4 nuts on the shaft and sliding it out.
any help?

Dag's video is nice, but really abbreviated.

Here's what you want to look at.  http://www.valkyrieriders.com/shoptalk/rear_end_service.pptx

There is more than just removing the 4 nuts and sliding it out.  YOU MUST KEEP A HAND ON THE FINAL DRIVE ONCE THE LAST NUT IS REMOVED TO PREVENT IT FROM SLIDING OUT ON ITS OWN.

Its that easy

No, i take mine out with the rear end still on the tire. that way it comes out easier, and it is all out, so you have to check it all.

Put the pumpkin back in first by itself, but pull it out with the wheel.
