Welcome!
What part of NE Fla are you out of and what kind of service do you need to have done?
Will tell you right now I am not the one to tell you who is good up in that area but maybe if it is simple we can guide you along and you can do it yourself. Most of what needs to be done on a Valk can be done by the owners.
Hope to see you on a ride soon. Ever go down to Shrimp R Us in Welaka or 3 Bananas in Crescent City?

Keith where are you located?  Maybe as Pappy said we can guide you with what you need.  A lot of us do our own work.

Hey Keith welcome. It's good to have new blood in the mix. Can't help with your service needs but the folks here can advise about almost anything Valk related. cooldude

Welcome To The  Valkyrie Community Keith. You Will Find Out That Most Of The Valkyrie Owners Do Their  Own Service And Maintenance. These Bikes  Are Not Hard To Maintain And Are Built To Ride . If You Have A Question Just Ask, Someone Here May Have The Right Answer Or May Know Where To Get it.
 Ride Safe,

Sorry guys but i have been out o pocket or a while.. found out some bad news as it relates to my wife and that C word.. its going as best as it can and will certainly reset priorities. However its another story for a different forum.
I have always wanted a Valk.. finally have one and its the best bike I have owned to date. I am not a stranger to working on bikes but some things are out of reach, in this case it has to do with replacing tires, and the more I read on this forum(which i have learned alot and sure appreciate such Valk resources exist) With regard to rear wheel maint; proper spline lube, the (3) o ring replacements and alike, its obvious to me that I didn't want my tires changed by just any ten dollar an hour worker in the back that was just interested in flippin tires with no regard to proper process, it makes sense to me that with such motors that create greater than avg HP and torque, losing sight of a simple thing such as this can and will trash parts easily. So that started my original question, and thanks to those that responded.
Lets see, I think some asked where I am located, so a quick rundown on me..
Reside in Orange Park, work downtown J-ville, love to ride and love to be different, so nice having a bike that hasnt been around in a while, so that when I blow by other bikes, I see the looks.. of like WTF.. what was that? i love the sound(yes first thing i did was cut the piggies and drill the rear and front baffles(more direction I got from this forum), I bought the bike with 2200 miles, all carbs were rebuilt, tunes and syncd.. man does she run..  worried about the stock fuel cut off.. have always shut the fuel on my bikes but.. hydraloc, another forum learned thing.. so until i take care of that, I bump the start everytime.. just put on a batwing, I do like it, so if anyone wants a good deal on a new(its was put on the bike by the seller new) memphis fats, gradient black windshield with brackets, hit me up. went on a run which included several hangouts including Chapperals.. saw many bikes, but not one valk.. man.. not that i don't want to see them, i do, but then again.. its cool to be unique eh?!

oh the bike.. its an 03, std, black, fast and sweet!

Keith thanks for responding and hope the news for your wife starts looking better.  Family is always far more important than any thing else.
When I first got my bike I took it to Interstate Honda in Lake City for a tire change.  They did a good job back then, but I have been doing all of my own work since that time.  They are affiliated with one of the Honda dealers in Jacksonville, not sure which one, maybe Honda of Jacksonville.  The same guy owns several dealerships in Fl. and Ga.
Sounds like you have been reading the tech board which is a good thing.  Lots of good information there.  I changed the petcock on our 99 Interstate after rebuilding the petcock twice and having vacuum leaks.  I went to a manual Pingle.  You still need to turn it off when you stop, but you don't need to worry about vacuum leaks.  Check yourself for the model # but pretty sure this link takes you to the correct one. http://www.leatherup.com/p/Cruiser-Motorcycle-Fuel-Petcocks/Pingel-Power-Flo-Chrome-Fuel-Petcock-Valve-for-Honda-Valkyrie/196790.html

If it fits your schedule we are going to try to meet up in Alachua at Conestoga's Restaurant for lunch next Saturday.  You are welcome to come on over and meet some of the other Florida VRCC folks and kick some tires.

The outlet on the OEM is a bit larger than the Pingle.  You will need a screw clamp when you replace it.  The Pingle reserve is about a half gallon less than OEM, so keep that in mind.  Of course you will need to plug the vacuum line to the #6 cylinder or just put a cap on it at the intake as it won't be needed any longer.  Also be sure when you put the tank back on that you don't kink the vent line that comes off the rear of the tank.
