I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if the Valkyrie emblem is just glued and can come off. I'm probably about to find out, but thought I'd throw this out there before I try. I'm replacing all the bearings up front and rebuilding the forks. I've already had great success in stripping the clear coat off the top plate and polishing it to near chrome appearance. Getting ready to do the same to the bottom, but think I should remove this badge first.

The Honda Wing emblem on the top triple tree is put on with two sided tape and easy to pry off without damage.

I'm at a loss as to any badging like you describe on the steering stem of my Valks. Are you referring to manufacturing data decal? Undecided  Your polishing efforts sound good, any pics?

Here you go

That's what I figured, but I it didn't hurt to get some one else's experience or opinion to confirm before I damage the emblem. Thanks cooldude

Here is the top plate> I have not done the fine buffing on it yet. I could not find my fine buffing compound. I'm gonna probably have to go and get another stick.

I used this to strip the clear coat off .

After polishing, I plan to spray them with clear coat.

You might be surprised how inexpensive it is to have those powder coated w/ clear.

Jimmy I think that emblem was placed on there by the PO and not stock.

What he said. Looked at a LOT of Valkyries at I-12 and I-13 and don't rekemember seeing something like that. Looks good on there and will look a bit better after you polish it.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

You know, I had a 98 and don't recall. This is a 2000 and I just assumed it was stock. It does appear to be the exact emblem as on the side covers. It came off ok, but was held on pretty good.

That emblem was a Hondaline accessory intended to be attached to the chrome plate on the stock sissy bar. I have the same emblem mounted on a Rattlebars "Forkfiller" below the triple tree.

BINGO! That is exactly where mine is, on the plate behind the passenger backrest. Those polished pieces are looking real good.

Clear powder coating, hadn't heard of that.
I had a couple of new SBC aluminum intakes coated clear and will never run one again on a keeper without it. The color will stay as new and they clean up easily as oils & gas can't soak in, also it fills the pores in the casting. I had some claw feet for my antique bathtub done in aluminum power, then clear powder. They almost look chrome.

hair dryer to heat it and fishing line should take it off.  Thanks for the picture

I have the word H O N D A like Honda used to do on all their bikes.  It is a place begging for something, but your polishing is outstanding, its gotta go.....lol
