Our story begins many moons ago when I mentioned to Eli of the Red Diamonds that I was interested in finding a project bike.  A few moons later comes a PM with an offer to adopt a project bike that Eli had rescued from an abusive previous owner.  When I first saw her she was dirty and ugly with almost every tin being a different color, so I started calling her FrankenValk.

Days of scrubbing and almost four months of being a weekend mechanic.

Motor detailed and lots of chrome blacked out.

Hard Krome exhaust to make her fast~n~loud

She’s alive!  Just in time for the spring riding season...

Thank you Eli.

A huge thank you to Eli for finding this opportunity for me.

Is the blackout stuff powder coat or paint?
All of the above.  I had a large box of parts powder coated that turned out horrible so I ended up painting over the powder coating and then spraying them with clear coat, I've since found a new powder coater that does good work but I didn't want to pull the bike apart and re-do everything.  Of course, all of the plastic parts are painted.

Do the pipes have any baffles?
Yes, 8" and wrapped with a thin stainless wrap to quiet them a little more.

Me too!, it took five years of shopping to find a set.

Chuck,

When you applied the badges, did you just eye ball them to make sure they were in the right location or did you use some type of measurements? What type of adhesive did you use? Looks good brother.      cooldude

Thanks Vic, the badges conform to the tank pretty well, within a few seconds of fitting them they settled into where they belong.  At this point the only adjustment is horizontal and there isn't much wiggle room there.  I fitted them and then used blue painters tape to mark on the tank where I wanted them to be.  A trip to AutoZone netted some 3M double-sided molding tape and VOILA!  If I get super critical of the end result the rear of the badge is a little lower that the front but I'm not about to take 'em off to adjust.  I installed mine alone, have a friend assist you and they can eyeball them from across the driveway and get them perfect the first time.  I have left over 3M tape if you need it.
