Just went through the carbs and completely rebuilt them that is removed from the list of possible problems. I checked the spark plugs and they are good (pre-gapped irridiums). Idles great at 900rpms. New jets 102 mains/OEM needles with washer/38 slows/pilots set at 2. Reconditioned airbox with OEM air filter no know air leaks/exhaust not popping.
Desmogged 15 years ago.
Approx 80k miles
Alternator and all wiring harnesses are original to the bike.
I just pulled the timing cover and checked the cams/cranks for timing and everything is on. The trigger wheel is OEM and says OUTSIDE.
What I haven't checked is the EGM which is an IS switched over 14 years ago and still have the standard OEM ECM. I am going to do a compression test later tonight.
Bike starts/idles/ and revs to redline just fine with no audible miss or rough running. No popping
Questions:
1. If I have a bent valve wouldn't it be running like absolute obvious crap? A compression should show a bad cylinder though.
2. Can an ECM run bad but all cylinders fire?
3. It can't be just one of the three coils as it should show obvious signs of missing correct?
I hope it isn't that I am just used to 100hp and thats all shes got
