I've had my Valk since '99. During that time, I've lost two chrome swing arm nut covers. The latest one popped off during my last ride. They're not expensive, but it still chaps my hide. I'm thinking maybe a bead of silicone on the inside edge of the cover before I put the new one on? I would prefer it to stay on, while also letting me remove it if needed.... Any suggestions?

Yeah I've lost 2 also, 1 only lasted a couple weeks. Put a couple dabs of silicone and been good ever since.

strenched a piece of electrical tape around the mating area after the first one fell off. its been 30k miles now and both are safe and sound. did the same for the center caps of a dakota I had. never lost anymore after the first one.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ordered my replacement last night, so it'll be a few days before it gets here. I think one time around with some electrical tape should do the trick.

Sometimes bending something round, just a tad out of round, makes it stay in a round hole longer.
I'd use RTV, a big gob, and wipe off the excess.

Yah, silicone is the trick...just a couple dabs...not all the way around...you don't want to trap water in there.
I lost 4 or 5 before I did that (slow to learn apparently)...and haven't lost one since...
Apparently at some point in my various riding positions, I catch the right cover with my boot heel...

I lost one on my 99 a little over a year ago. I did'nt know you could buy just the caps. I thought you had to buy the swing arm covers and the caps together. Is that a dealer item only, or is it available as an aftermarket item? Where is the best place to buy the caps from?
