I shipped my 01' I/S to Brasil in November of 06'. I rode through Brasil with a Brasilian friend that lives there for about 2 months. We then went south to the very bottom of South America, Ushuaia, Argentina. We then went up the west side of South and Central America back to California. The only countries we didn't do were, Venezuela, the 3 Giaunas and Belize. 80 days on the bike on that portion and about 20-22,000 miles total. It was an awesome trip and I hope to do it again. The state of affairs has changed some since then. Very few problems and only minor at that.

Feel free to contact me if you like. I can e-mail you all 10,000 pictures if you care to see them.

Two of my friends here in the desert, both retired CHP's did a ride similar to Mike's,  in Jan '13, and they encountered no problems. Both were riding dual sports, one Honda, one BMW. One of them is both an Iron Butt, (the big one) and multiple Iron Man veteran. The other friend was a CHP Motor in LA, until transferring to the desert. It sounds like a lot of fun, but also expensive. If I were to do it, I think I would hook up with Ron Ayers, or another tour group, unless, like Mike I had someone from that part of the country to ride with...my2cents....6shutr
