After Reading so much about hydrolock and the potential damage it causes, i decided to do it, bought all the parts needed, consulted John Schmidt who provided all kinds of info including Desmog. John even offered to get it done at his place even his back is hurting him bad lately provided i do most of the work under his supervision. What a great guy, always there with answers to all my questions.
However another hero named Jack  AKA Flrider had already stepped in with his hands on experience and kindly offered to help as well, rode to his house today at 11 am and he went to town with it in his garage soon as the fat girl cooled off, did the desmog first got rid of all  clutter and freeze plug the rest of the openings, i was just assisting with handing him tools and such and jb weld the rest. we went out for a bite and came back and he started on the Pingel petcock , the fuel filter and the Dan Marc electric shut off installed, put everything back and we were done by 7pm. Great day with another great fellow valk rider, what a great bunch of folks we have on this forum in general and this board in particular, i cant stress this enough,
So BIG THANKS TO  you Flrider for everything you did for me today, thanks to John and to everyone who has been of help and assistance to any other member, you guys ROCK
THANK YOU

Just curious, I've done all the mods you mention here except the Dan Marc. I have a manual Pingle installed. As long as I remember to turn it off every time aren't I safe?

You should be ok, we included a dan mac electric fuel shut off and  attached to the pingel to not have to worry about shutting off everytime, it shuts off automatic when bike shuts off.

Larue
Glad I was able to help brother.
Just trying to pay it forward, I have gotten help from others here ( Jeff K, John Smith, Bill Grumpy and Mark T just to name a few ) and it was my turn to lend a helping hand.
It was good that we could work out a day that we were both off.

Hope we can get together for a ride in the near future.

Keep the shinny side up  cooldude
