New To Me August 2013

North Houston

« on: April 13, 2014, 04:29:49 AM »

We live in a state with some of the most colorful wild flowers in the world and they are free. I don't see much reports on this board of local rides to view them? The news did pickup with what looks to be a new AGGIE genetic wonder up in Austin.  I' will be riding up that way today and will let you know if the flowers are still out.

I headed up 290 to Austin, visited the kid  then came back thru Lagrange on 159. The ride back was much better as 159 is the right speed and it was covered in flowers. A little damp but had a good 310 mile ride Yesterday.

Don't go thru Bastrop on the MS-150 weekend or at least not on Sunday. The little down gets locked up.

Life goes on whether you are in it for the ride or not.

There was a bluebonnet thread started a week or two ago...

In South Carolina we have yellow pastures (mustards), blue pastures (something called Toadflax)
and red pastures (I forget)... Farmers and cows would rather just have green pastures (grass  Smiley ),
but I like riding by the colored ones...

Took a ride on Wednesday North to Livingston, Dibol, Broadus and deeper into the Pineys. The flowers abound on most FM roads and pastures, many different colors to see.

If you are riding  and it is a must that you keep your eyes on the road, you are riding too fast.

Got in a little over 200 miles saturday and saw plenty of wild flowers! Went through Navasota, Chapple Hill, Burton, Carlos and areas in-between.

On your tombstone there is a dash between the day you were born and the day you die. Make that dash count.
